I just found out that I have to travel to our corporate office in Palo Alto, CA the week of January 6th which is a week before my surgery!  I'm going to be miserable because I will be on my liquid diet.  While everyone will be eating really good food when we go out to dinner, I will be eating broth!

I guess this will test my mental courage! lol

You can do it!!! How long will you be there?

As soon as you get there... go to the store and get you some protein shakes. KEEP DRINKING the protein. DON'T STOP but to drink water. As long as your belly is full of the protein.... you will be good.

Chew some gum if need be for the "chew" urge. Once you get sleeved.... no more gum!!

I will be there four days.  I will take my protein shakes with me.  I have to use the ones that I get from my surgeon's office.  Of course we have to may $250 for them!

I can't chew gum after surgery?

Well according to my surgeon guidelines, no gum after surgery. Yours might be different.

Gum causes additional air pockets in your tummy AND if you just so happen to swallow the gum... it will generate an obstruction. HENCE resulting in a surgical removal.

I was warned about the same thing. Excess air and trouble if you swallow.

I don't envy you trying to travel while on the pre-op diet. I traveled before surgery, but got home one day before my pre-op diet began. Then I had a convention about three weeks post surgery, so my diet was still very restricted, but by then you really don't have a choice but to stay on the diet.

Stay strong!
