Panic Setting In

I begin my 3-week pre-op diet next Wednesday. The reality is starting to sink in now. I actually feel scared of this diet, like of how extreme it seems. I'm also a bit nervous about my life after the surgery. I have visions of myself thin and doing things I never could before, but then I panic and wonder...what if this surgery fails to help me?

So many feelings tumbling around inside right now. Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

Everything you are feeling is normal.  If you weren't I would have to wonder if you understood what you are doing.kiss  You can do this and will be so glad you did in the not so distant future.  Good luck and take care.

I'm going to be perfectly honest. The first 3 days or so will be the absolute hardest. Your body will be detoxing from carbs and the cravings will probably make you want to claw at your own eyes. Once you've come through that, however, it should be much easier. Now, don't think I'm saying that it's going to be FUN, but easier nonetheless.

Best of luck, hon. We'll be warming up your seat on the Losers' Bench!!

The pre-op diet was tough. I had the carb monster on my back and it was a few rough days. I actually bought my bariatric food from my surgeons office so I could detox from carbs and make my fatty liver smaller before surgery. After surgery I wasn't all that hungry but it took awhile for my body to stop with the hunger signals. The surgery and reduced ghrelin and that feeling of being satisfied and full happened closer to 3 weeks out for me. Today, at 8 weeks out, I have a small appetite and fill up on protein and fluids.

You're going to do great. It's normal to be nervous. I don't feel cheated or deprived at all because I eat high quality food and feel satisfied. It doesn't hurt that I've dropped 3 dress sizes in 2 months either LOL.
