Well, for heaven's sake! you just had surgery 5 days ago. OF COURSE you may need some pain medicine. Even though it was laparoscopic, you've had a very major surgery. It's totally normal to not be "back to normal" for a couple of weeks. Don't be so hard on yourself. I didn't even get home from the hospital until Day 5!

You make good points. Thank you. Sometimes it's easy to lose perspective when you read about people on treadmills or going back to work and you're just wanting to stand for more than 10 minutes without pain. :)  I'll try and ease up on myself and my expectations.

Check with your surgeon. Mine told me  not to take ANY laxative by mouth until he sees me at 3 weeks, but if i haven't gone in 48 hours he wants me to use a Fleet's enema or a Dulcolax suppository.

I had the same problem and the one thing that helped was Unjury chicken soup, that way I got my protein in and because it was warm it was easier to swallow.

I'm sorry you having such a tough time. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Worry about fluids first right now, protein second. It was 2 months before I could get more than 20oz of fluids down in a day. You are doing good. Your keep the fluids down that are going in. For me warm things helped me tremendously. In particular peppermint herbal tea. I am used to sipping warm fluids anyways, so it didn't feel weird to sip it. The peppermint helped to calm my stomach as well. For 4 months I wasn't able to put anything in my tummy before noon or it would come back out. Your making good progress. Try not to compare yourself to others and listen to your body. Sip Sip Sip...Walk Walk Walk!!

Girlfriend!!!! The first two weeks are a BEAST!!! I THOUGHT I told you that. Getting rest is very helpful at this time. Get some gas x and some gatorade. Sip SLOWLY. IF you feeling hungry do the chicken broth with some protein powder. Take your time.

Thanks girl!  I would be ok if I didn't have this feeling in my stomach.  I will take it one day at a time.  I'm still at my mom's house and she won't let me go home until I feel better! lol  I tried to leave today and she wasn't trying to hear it!
