Have  you ever heard of bariatric advantage?  They have chewable calcium pills and they are so good! They taste like candy. I plan to order more soon.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work!

check out my blog!

I tried some in a sample pack I was given. I fell in love with the caramel. I asked my NUT about them and she said not to take those because they had too many calories or fat, I forgot which one it was, and to stick with the giant citracal.

When the citracals are gone though, I might just break down and get the chewy caramels, because I'm a rebel.

My bariatric program had me crushing pills for the first 6 weeks. I have a tight sleeve. Once I hit the 6 week window, my sleeve was ready for me to chuck back a handful of pills all at one time without any issues.

I drink a protein shake in the morning (still do, never was an eat first thing in the day kind of person). At that time.  I poured out a couple ounces of my first shakeout the day, mixed my crushed pills in and swigged on down.  Tasted so much better than mixing in to yogurt or something else where I could taste them still.  Believe me I tried.  Then I worked on finishing the rest of my shake.  I am fortunate. I have had no issues drinking water, decaf tea or my shakes since day 1.  I just had to remind myself it was time to drink something early on.

This is what i do with the capsules i have to open. I mix it up in a shot glass and toss it back. When i was mixing it with Apple sauce or yogurt,  I would put it in my mouth and almost not be able to swallow because of the taste.

Awesome. I hope that things "open up" a bit more by week 6 for me, too. I'm also blessed with a tight sleeve. Sometimes I forget how tight, until I swallow a big pill. I'm crushing all my vitamins from now on. The pain of a stuck pill is something I don't want to feel again.

Hi: Twin Lab has a whole line of chewable Bariatric support vitamins. Yesterday I picked up some Chewable Multi vitamins and B-12 dots at The Vitamin Shoppe. You guys may want to look into these vitamins.

Just wondering, what are the calorie and carb counts?  I am a straight and narrow path type person. My Dr calls me Laser Focused and Driven.  For me, if "vits" are going to add extra calories or carbs because of the convenience or because they are tastier, it just isn't worth the "extra calories or carbs in my weight loss world".  :)

Down a few pounds here, and a few pounds there. I think the rate of WL has been really good. The restriction is really kicking in at this point, which is awesome!

Today was a first for me: Got ALL vitamins in, even the calcium, and regretted it. I have such a hard time with pills. My calcium pills are gigantic (Calcium Citrate with Mg and D which my surgeon recommended to me) and they get stuck. One lodged in my sleeve today, good and tight too, and sat there like a boulder for a good fifteen minutes. Hurt like the dickens. I jumped up and down and couldn't get it to move. I crushed the second one when it was time to take that. I think I'll crush the really big ones from now on.

Getting some dizziness/blackouts upon standing. Fell pretty hard once. Went to doc. Sugar is fine. BP is fine. May be momentary drops in BP? Switched from drinking tea to straigh****er, and lots of it. 100oz a day, no excuses. Seems to help a little bit, but I still get super lightheaded about an hour after taking one of my BP medications.

Eating is touch and go. Hubs is telling me please to measure out portions of food and get them in tomorrow, even if it takes me all day to graze them in. Am reluctant to start the grazing habit or eat junk food... I almost ate peanut butter one day!!! But I agreed to eat an egg tomorrow. A whole one. Might take two sittings.

Cooked a dinner! It was for hubs. Chicken coated in homemade low carb Italian crumb mix. He said it was great since I can't taste it. I packed some in his lunch kit for tomorrow, over a bed of greens, surrounded by salami and cheese that I cut into little hearts, because I'm a dork like that.

Hubs brought me a bunch of green apple Isopure begging me to please have a little bit tomorrow if I can. He knows I like that flavor. I think I can do some of it if I measure it out in 0.25 cup increments.

Crock potted some organic free range local chicken, very soft. Was afraid to eat it so I threw it in the freezer.

So yep! Doing great! No junk food/carb monster/binge issues yet, of course I'm still early out!

Dizziness on standing is most likely postural hypotension, or positional hypotention. I passed out a few times from it. It happens when your blood pressure drops rapidly when standing. It's easy to check. Take your BP when sitting or lying down, and then again immediately after standing. If it drops, it's postural hypotension.

There are only a few things that will help. However much you are drinking now, you need to drink more. Add more sodium to your diet. Your blood pressure is low, so don't worry about too much salt. Electrolytes in general will help. Zero calorie sports drinks, like Powerade Zero, will help. And of course, if you are still on blood pressure meds, you might not need them.

I'm a big fan of Celebrate Calcium Plus 500 chewable calcium citrate. It has extra D, K, magnesium, zinc and copper. They won't get stuck, you don't have to crush them, and it's like a treat three times a day.

Although Bariatric Advantage is promoting theirs as the best (of course), they have a comparison chart on their website of different calcium brands.  The chart is dated 2012 so it may not be the most current information.
