I don't usually struggle this much, but here it is.
5-6 pounds isn't horrible and you're not waiting until you're 20-30 lbs heavier. My point is, you're not in denial. Your healthy eating habits will make this new journey so much smoother than it would have been at your highest weight. You can draw on the strength you gained during your weight loss journey to help you through your double mastectomy. It may also be that because of your weight loss the cancer isn't more advanced than it is. (insert technical explanation of amount of fat and estrogen here-I hope you get my meaning).
Do you know yet if you're going to have to have chemo or radiation after surgery? I know much of the time they don't know until they do the lymph node biopsies.
Prayers are going up! If you have the energy please let us know how you are doing. I'm still fairly new here but I can tell already the people here support each other through all kinds of things.
Not sure yet- I have to wait until the pathology comes back post surgery. You are correct, a lot depends on the lymph node situation. They did catch it super early, and in some cases they do not do chemo or radiation, and many times just radiation. So for now it is a wait and see.

Keep in touch, sister, and let us know before you go in, so we can keep you in our prayers. Sometimes, damage control is a victory. Do what you can with the food/stress thing- stay on that "frienamy/scale"- it will keep you in the land of reality- even though you don't want to look at it. Courage and God's grace and healing be yours. My hugs and hope be yours today. Bonnie.
