For those of you who keep carbs to a minimum...
This is pretty awesome with no meat allowed yet! I am now averaging 60 protein and right around 500 cals. I'm trying to do that on real food rather than shakes but sometimes I do have a bar or shake (especially on days I work.) I'll up my protein as my capacity allows. It will obviously be the first macro I'll increase.

very early out its difficult to keep them very low. you are eating a lot of dairy products which contain carbs, plus the regular stuff. once you start to add in real meat instead, it will be easier. dont worry about it the first month. just eat whatever needed to get your protein and fiber in.
I agree with Pete, but I did try going low carb right out of the gate. It didn't go well. I wish looking back I would have read Pete's post newly sleeved! Personally, I just make sure I do not eat too many carbs at one sitting. 15 for snacks, 30 for a meal. When I did low carb the first two months I used a lot of Isopure Plus and Premier protein shakes, thus my protein was plenty high and my carbs way, way too low for me.

At first if you concentrate on getting protein in ( whether from yogurt or meat or beans) your carb count will naturally be low just because of the small volume of food you can eat. If you choose to go low carb, I bet if you do count your carbs now they will be very low without even trying. You could start counting them now just to see where they are at, but I bet they are already low. As you progress, you can make the decision on whether to go super low, moderately low or not even count them. We are all different, and some are more carb sensitive than others. You have to find what works for you. Keeping them very low does seem to be more 'bang for the buck' as far as speed of weight loss goes. I personally did not feel well when my carbs went much below 60 or 70.

I don't count them but to address your question about protein- I still drink 2 Premier Protein shakes a day (320 cal/60 gm total). I can't eat more than 2.5 oz of dense protein and that helps me get to the 80-90 gm total I'm looking for.
Good luck, keep asking questions! there's lots to learn.
