Went Off the Rails This Weekend
Thanks Karik
I made the sauce for my Miracle Noodle dish out of Gorganzola instead of my normal Skinny Cow to get a little fat in :) Tasty I must say!

Your comment "despite feeling like crap and the clear association with the sugar intake I still crave it" struck me. There is a school of thought (to which I whole-heartedly subscribe) that blames sugar cravings - or craving any kind of food, actually - is a function of our gut biome. The bacteria that live there thrive based on what we feed it. If we feed processed sugar (and in my case processed grains), the bugs that love that **** breed like crazy, and want more, more, more! If we feed other kinds of stuff, especially natural, non-processed food, and starve those little sugar-loving brats, the more healthy bugs thrive, and the cravings ease. Google resistant starch, also books by Zoe Harcombe. Pretty interesting stuff out there!
That is interesting! I always attributed it to the insulin overload which then triggers cravings and hunger. But, I think the sugar bug idea has some potential there!

I hear you Keith. It was a three day crappy carb fest. And you know they just don't satisfy like good clean food.
My scale was not happy with me this morning. So its back on plan!
I agree with you that the quality of carbs is so important. I am good as long as I stay away from anything that is not 100% whole grain. I try to include a little healthy carb with every meal and snack (I am in maintenance NOT weight loss) Well this week I am in weight loss (LOL)

This is one of my biggest fears. I have my g/sleeve surgery set for July 30th and am concerned that I am doing the right thing. I have lost 65 lbs. so far since March but I find myself slipping this week. Doing some emotional eating I think and need to catch myself when this happens. Will start again tomorrow and will win this battle. I think I also am thinking about my pre-op diet(starts on the 16th) and am being lenient about my diet.
Well the hope is that you become more mindful of your eating and self aware when you do go off the reservation. Getting back is not easy. You have to find ways to deal with the cravings and head hunger. I am in the middle of my 2nd workout today because I would just like to eat right now and I just had dinner. There is nowhere to put it and I would vomit if I did eat but it doesn't mean my head doesn't want it. I am also low on water today so that is contributing.just get back in the bike when you fall off.

Thanks for sharing Keith, good post! I find since returning to work the last two weeks I'm wanting to eat more. I know it's stress and am battling it. If we ever think we are in the clear that is when we will fail. Getting back on track is easier after a few days then a few months. Good for you for catching it and getting back in the game. Well done!
I came a bit undone over the holiday weekend. I little bit here and there. Grazing when I was not hungry or time to eat. Eating stuff not on plan. And I have my first Margarita since surgery!
No real exercise. I did kayak a couple of days but not hard enough to call it a real work out. It was scary how quickly I fell back into some bad habits. :(
You are so right, you can not let your guard down and go on auto pilot. I was lucky to only be up .8 /bs. but that is the beginning of the end.
Back on track today. :)
