I think I hate my sleeve
I agree with the poster who said to concentrate on your liquids. Drink drink drink, even if only a tiny little sip at a time. Experiment with temps, some people tolerate ice-cold, some prefer warm drinks. Put down the vitamins (for now) and don't worry about protein. It takes months and months of protein or vitamin deficiency to have an impact on your health. We're talking only weeks here. Eventually it'll get better, and you can ramp up on all the rest. Also, stop worrying about hair loss, it'll probably happen. It happens to people who have surgery, not just WLS, it's just a side effect of having surgery sometimes. No point in worrying about it. Sip sip sip and don't think about anything else for a while. And maybe breathe a little, hon. This too shall pass.
Wow, thank you all for the encouragement. I take comfort in knowing others have gone through this and come out on the other side. I will force myself to get the fluids in and not worry so much about the protein. The fluids I got seem to have helped some and I don't want to let it get back to that point again, so I need to be diligent. Thank you all again, I'll keep plugging along.
I'm going to chime in on the sugar in your tea and the crackers. I did both and didn't have any problem losing the weight and haven't had any problems, at least not yet, at maintaining my weight loss. If the tea with sugar and the crackers help settle your stomach, that's what you need to do. (Of course, this is just my opinion!) I have done and still do things a little differently than a lot of people on here and so far it's working for me. If that changes, I'll change what I'm doing. I would think at the 5 week point, the protein is starting to get important also. Protein shakes, if you can tolerate them, are a very good option. Also, the clear protein powder in foods works for some people, but I couldn't stand the taste and smell of them. I hope you're feeling better and can stay on top of the dehydration now that you've gotten some IV fluids in you.
Week five was my worst week. It was the only time that I threw up from my surgery. It happened a few times from food, and vitamins.
It was weird, because at week 6, I kinda turned a corner, and by week 7, I felt great.
The first 6 weeks were horrible for me though. I couldn't get anything down, and I felt like a failure. I thought I had ruined my life, and had MAJOR regrets.
I'm five months out now, and that's all a blur in the past.
I promise you it will get better!
Hang in there!
I am having the same issue. My nausea is constant and doesn't go away I'm five weeks out as well. I have been taking gravol every four hours. I puke and dry heave everyday it only foam or bile and I'm scared I'm going to rip out my staples.its soo frustrating and regretting my decision as well.i go see an interal specialist tommorrow. He had to open up my stomach with a gastroscopy a couple weeks ago, because i couldnt get anything down. Now this. I have only been able to work one full day since surgery. That was really hard to do.i can barely eat or drink. I'm just praying tommorrow I will have some answers.if he gives me any good advice I will let you know. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Pokerdiva, Have you talked to Dr Gagner? What does he say? He was my surgeon as well and I didn't have a minute of nausea...I guess we are all different. I know that whatever issue or question I had before or after surgery he was always there with an answer. Are you taking ursodiol? Maybe it is due to that? And the Nexium? I hope you are better soon!
To the OP, I hope your nausea subsides too and sorry for the hijack.
Yes I talked to Dr gagner and he said it could be dumping. I told him that I have not be eating anything high in fat or sugar. He said it could be the crystal light???? He was more interested in me exercising 45 min to a hour a day. I almost laughed there is no way in my condition. He has not been very helpful at all. The specialist sent me to do an ultrasound today they tested my pancreas, liver, gallbladder. I don't know what the results were but he also said it could be just my body's way of dealing with starvation. I'm not getting very many calories in. So he gave me 2 new nausea pills and I'm back to drinking ensure. So hopefully this all helps me
Were you tested/negative for h.pylori? A friend who was sleeved a few months before me had a tough time due to gastritis with symptoms like yours. She had been tested for h.pylori preop and was negative but she was tested again and came back positive. Things straightened out quickly for her once that was discovered and treated. Hang in there!

I couldn't eat either at 5 weeks and I was nauseated if I got anything in! I found out dehydration caused a lot of my nausea bu****er was so hard to get in! I tried lots of liquids because I didn't want to be dehydrated and found Propel flavored water goes in so easy and tastes really good. I stopped taking my vitamins because no matter what kind I tried I would throw up. I'm 5 months post op now and doing great!
