It's too bad that you can't go back and reverse everything.  This is probably why insurance companies make everyone jump through hoops to qualify for Bariatric surgery.  Hopefully the time will go quickly for you and in a month or so you can train your stomach to handle more and more food so that you can eat the way that you want to again.

It should give you hope to know that I know 2 people who, after a year out, are now able to eat large meals again.  Also, if you really miss a big plate of food you will be able to eat lots of slider food like pasta and potatoes very soon.

I feel bad for people who have regrets about this surgery but you can get back to normal eating if you avoid eating protein first and wash your meals down with water.  It's just lucky that you didn't get a bypass so you don't have to worry about permanent mal-absorption.

Bypass doesn't have permanent mal-absorption that is why many regain most of their weight back.

That is interesting.  I didn't know that the reason those with a bypass lost weight because of the mal-absorption of nutrients.

It is but the Malabsorption is not permanent. It leaves around 2 years post op. That's when regain starts happening.

If you are referring to the theory that caloric mal absorption is the reason for weight loss in bypass patients, it is only a theory. Most calories are not absorbed in the stomach.  However, even if it were a fact, it has nothing to do with the fact that after bypass the stomach is permanently incapable of absorbing NUTRIENTS at the rate that it did before.

Therefore (after a year or so) one banana may = one banana's calories but (forever after) one banana = 1/2 banana nutrients (or there about).

Their pouches are not usually smaller than pit sleeves. Sleeves can be very small depending upon your surgeons technique.

Plainly speaking calories are absorped the same as pre op around two years post op, but nutrients are not.
