Yayyy.. finally it's here.  I will meet with Julie Grimm tomorrow for the first time to discuss the surgery.  I know it's normally done via telephone with patients, but since I'm deaf and relay (especially incoming on my cell) is hard... so we agreed to meet.

So what do I expect at the appt?  What questions will she ask?  What do I need to know?

It will be at the new Bellevue Medical Center so I'm excited to see the new building as I'm an employee of Group Health at downtown Seattle headquarters.

I'm not sure about the Group Health procedures.  If I were you, I would just be honest and open and make sure you let them know about any/all co-morbities, health issues, etc.

Good luck!

P.S. I am starting a sign language class next month - I am so excited!

Pixie , How exciting !

It must be really challenging for you to deal with the general public . I'm a Vocational trainer at Rainier School , an institution for the DD .  I occasionally work with deaf DD adults & have a mute adult on my caseload , who uses limited sign . I'm not great at signing , I only know the bare basics . Probably what you'd consider kindergarten signing . lol . One gal who visits me regularly (isn't on my caseload) is mute & is so good at signing , that I will often ask her what the sign is for certain things .
