RNY VS Lapband vs lupus?

i have been getting so much information on which path i should take. granted i have already made up my mine. But your girl is like a sponge i've always want more information. So i'm reaching  out to all my sister and brother out here and ask the question. Which one would you choose and why? And to make it more interesting if you have lupus i really would love to hear from you.

Everyone is different and has to decide what's best for them. For me, I chose lapband because I'm only 32 and I was very nervous about the absorption issues & long term effects of having organs re-routed.  Also, I had a C-section in 2001 and it was horrible, so I was scared to death of surgery that involved cutting my insides. I also take medicine for diabetes, high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, allergies, & birth control.  The main one I worried about being absorbed properly was the birth  control (I don't need any surprises here!) Also, while I want to be a normal weight, I also want to have a treat now and then and not have it cause me terrible physical destress.   My best friend in Colorado was 40 when she had RNY about 3 years ago and she swears by it, but she also had many complications & can't tolerate several different types of food or any sugar.  She struggles, even to this day, but she would do it again in a heartbeat. Hello and good luck with whichever surgery you choose. Do you have Lupus?  Or does someone in your immediate family?  Because if so Dr. Baker will not do a lap band.  My mother died of the complications of Lupus, and I am in the process of being diagnosed with Lupus.  I see Dr. Jones at the Little Rock Diagnostic.  So I specifically ask. Since Lupus is an autoimmune disease the chances of the body setting up a reaction against a foreign object (the lapband) is much higher. I am not certain, but since the risk is so high, I doubt other surgeons in the Central Arkansas area would do a lapband on a Lupus risk either - but you could ask around.  But in my opinion, it really isnt worth the risk. Yes i do  have lupus and have spoken with Dr. Baker about my surgery decision. We both agree that it would not be in my best intrest to have the lap band due to those issues. I was just curious about some of the people out there who do have the lapband and are living with lupus. I really do want to hear both sides...Knowledge is power. Mary
