RNY on 01/25/05 with
Connie, Welcome!!!! Yes this board is not busy to say the least. I check it everyday to see if there is a new post. I am an Army wife as well but for only 15 years to your 19. We are stationed in CA, my husband works for Boeing for the Army. I also had open RNY. My surgery was Jan. 25, 2005. This has been quiet a journey. I was part of a support group before surgery for about 3 months. I really thought that I was prepared but now I know you can never really be prepared. It is such a up and down rollercoaster. But I will tell you that I wouldn't change a thing, I would do it again in a heart beat. I feel as if I have my life back. As of this past Tuesday I am down 78 pounds. I have 33 pounds to go to get to my surgeons goal. Okay just really wanted to say welcome and good luck on your surgery in Sept. It will be here before you know it!!! Take care, Becky P.

Hi Connie, My hubby is has been in for 25 1/2 years in the USCG 19 1/2 years for us being married... and I had my surgery September 13th 2004 I have lost 122 pounds I can't lose anymore because friends and family are saying I am to skinny and my mom gets worried looking at me... It is just the Tummy Tuck I need .... To finish the job.. I have no regrets but it can be hard at times but after that moment the wows over ride the different times of feeling bad.... Mostly if you eat the wrong thing or to much you just feel sic****il it pass.... and of course you learn from the mistake.... But it is worth it.... What I love the most is how good it feels to look in the mirror with some cute clothes on and everything looks good tucked in and fitting just right... No more shirts with that little opening or squeezing into jeans... and no more pillows on the lap .. and this one is is the big one for me not taking so much time getting ready trying to figure out what you will wear to make you look thinner.... one more thing and I swear I will go ... you don't have to wear black pants or tops to look skinny.. maggie

Bon, it's nice to meet you! 19 years - wow! My husband wants to go career - I don't know if I can survive the Army that long sometimes though lol! Olympia is a nice area - we haven't been there long, and we're considering moving to the Tacoma area in April '06, but if we do I'll really miss living in Tumwater (Olympia). When do you expect to PCS next? How are you doing after your surgery? I can't wait until I'm "two weeks out" lol! All this anticipation is killing me! Where in Texas are you from? I was born and raised in a tiny NE Texas town called Jefferson. I've also lived down in SE Texas, in Winnie (between Houston and Beaumont). And right now my parents live in Nacogdoches, where I'm currently visiting. Anyway, nice to meet you! I wish you the best of luck now that you're post-op, and I'd love to hear how things are going for you! Keri

hi connie - i too am new to this ARMY board, and in fact this is my first post. The only reason i even knew it existed was really by accident, b/c someone sent me a URL of one for the airforce, so i began a seach and said well if af has one army must too. Maybe we could get the word out to more somehow.. ANYWHO -- I'm heather, 30, and hoping to have lap RNY within the month... I'm in Columbia (same city as Ft. Jackson). WELCOME AND I ENJOY TALKING TO OTHER MILITARY ARMY WIVES/SPOUSES HERE .
