I just wanted to pass this info on to any one who has Tricare and wants the lapband. Officially Tricare does not cover the lap band, However that's only if you want it done in a civilian Hospital. If you have the surgery done at a military hospital then it is covered I am having lap band done at Walter Reed in Washington DC. At Walter Reed they do the RNY and Lap Band. If you would like more info contact me later Heather

2 years ago when I called they told me it was 4 year waiting list. but I think they have gotten rid of the waiting list. if they can see you within 30 days of your referral from your PCM they will write you a letter to go with a civilian doctor well that's what they told me in August.

Heather, Hello, I stay in Woodbridge, just wondering are you in the military or a dependent, just wondering what the military rules are for active duty having the surgery. Thanks if you have any info

My Surgeon told me once that they do surgery on Actuve duty, because they don't want their solders to have to be on special diets. they have to be able to feed you whatever incase you get sent to war or somewhere that does not cater to a special diet. then of course their is the attitude that if you are in the military you are not suppose to be overweight. Although i see a lot of men and woman everyday that would fail a tape test in uniform Now that was a year ago things change all the time in the military later Heather
