HEllo, I am new to this board, my husband works at Ft. Riley Kansas and is scheduled to go to Iraq on June the 6th! His deployment is almost 2 years. He retires in two years! UGHH. How is everyone copping with their GI JOE/Jane being gone for over a year and WLS? Thanks Amy I

Hi Amy, this will be my first deployment since WLS but my second deployment all together. The 1st one I was in Germany and pregnant and also had my oldest son with me, he was only 17 months old...uggg. It was ruff. He was deployed that time for 15 months(at that time it was the longest deployment there had been) and the orders this time say 18 months so who knows how long. Good luck and the best advice I can give is to find something that will interest you and keep you busy. Ashe

Dear Amy, Tell your husband we are so proud of what he all the U.S. Military are doing. I feeeelllll so bad that he will be away so long but worse while you are going through this process. Retiring results in him having to do a 2 year tour seems inhumane??!. Your photo on your profile is what i look like being 2 weeks post op. i can only hope you have a job that keeps you busy because that will help..a little. I have only dealt with 6 mths. apart so who am i to give advice. You need family, friends, weight surgery support group, anything to keep you busy. Busy will help the time go a little quicker. If I was near you i would walk with you and go to your support group which is something i don't have so we would have been good for each other!!!!!!!! I'm a little to far from you! I hope your military family community center has advice and support. all the best, Jennifer
