Topic: RE: Fort Carson bound?!?!
Hi Jennifer. I had my WLS 4 1/2 years ago and am still trying to get this last 50 pounds off. We are station at Fort Carson also, but live off post (just outside gate 3). I have been going to the YMCA off Jet Wing and really like it. I'm always looking for someone else to exercise with. It makes it less like a chore if you can sweat with another person haha. You can Email me at [email protected] or use the message board. I don't mind either way.

Preach on sister!
I am in Dallas staying with my folks while we transition from VA to Fort Bliss in El Paso. There are no military clinics here that see dependents and when my daughter got sick with strep throat I spent over three hours going back and forth on the phone with Tricare trying to find a provider that would take us. All four providers they gave me said they wouldn't take Tricare anymore because they never got paid!
I finally ended up taking her to the ER. Of course they looked at me like I was crazy going there in the middle of the day for a sore throat when I could have gone to a doctors office. It is soooooo frustrating!!

Vanessa, I don't live there but I do have a friend that does. She has not had WLS but does know someone who has. Email me your email address and I will give it to her if you want. Her husband is deploying as well.
Thanks,

Topic: Is anyone else...
...having trouble finding off-post providers who are willing to accept Tricare?? All but a few surgeons in the area have stopped taking Tricare (including my own, but since I had already started the process they agreed to "keep me" lol). And even a lot of the potential PCM's in the area have stopped accepting it! According to the insurance coordinator at my surgeon's office, Tricare is notorious for not paying claims, or for trying to find loopholes to prevent having to pay legitimate claims. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem, or if it may just be a local issue?

Topic: RE: hello - I am new here TOO :)
hello
my surgery date which i just found out ig october 3rd.
i have done everything pre-op except for the actual final pre-op appt with the surgeon, which is sept 26th.
I am excited, and slightly overwhelmed.
i am in missouri/illinois right now visiting my husband's family. my hubby is in iraq as i have told you and i brought our 9 mth old daughter here so the inlaws could all love on her.
so im a bit busy, but i think when i get back to SC on wednesday, it will sink in a little more that my surgery is just around the corner.

Topic: RE: Army Hospitals
It depends on the region, hospital and your "medical necessity." BACH @ Fort Campbell will do hernia repairs and general hip to hip tummy tuck but only one surgeon does it and he is getting ready to deploy. Our region will pay for a panniectomy (sp?) but it has to be proven as a medical need. It is just really hard to get it approved. I have had several friends on tricare get approved though. It usually only pays for some of the surgery but some is better than none. KWIM?
HTH!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~
