Hi Karen, I am about a year and a half out and just saw your post. We had a dinner where about 20 of us from around the central texas area get togther...We get together about once a month and would love to have you join us sometime. I had my surgery at scott and white in temple and I normally attend those but since I have been working ****il just recently) during the wee****pt missing the meetings. I know that everyone is welcome and they have "old timers" meetings and newbie meetings. How long ago did you have your surgery? If you go to the Texas message board there is a lot more activity on there and if you talk to Brenda Gillespie she can tell you when the next S&W meeting is. I hope that things are going well for you and if you ever want to talk...I will be here! I live in Killeen and there are several of us here! ~Rachel

Topic: New to this message board, well everything really.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone and let ya know I was reading messages. I am in Fort Polk, Louisiana. I had my appt with my pcm about two weeks ago I guess and he said he'd put in for my consult cause he thought I was a good candidate since I was 30 yrs old, 100lbs overweight, had degenerative arthitis in my knees and PVNS in my left knee(with five knee surgeries and counting & I'll be having a knee replacement before to long). I asked him while I was there how long before he thought I would beable to get my surgery because hubby was leaving for deployment in Jan of 06 and he said I'd have my surgery well before then. My pcm also said that I would get my surgery one of three ways either here at BJACH, or referred out or at Fort Worth. He called me back at 7:30 that night to ask when the last time I had a thyroid checked and he found that I had it checked in Sept of 04 in my records while he was talking, so he said I wouldn't need another. He did say that the surgeons office would be calling before to long cause they also said I was a good candidate and it looked like I was having surgery here. This past monday (6-20-05) they called and I have my consult July 14th 05. So that's where I'm at with everything. Someone did tell me about a month ago that there was a loooong waiting list but nobody in the offices of BJACH has told me that yet so I'm anxious to find that out. Have a blessed day! Nicola
