Topic: HATS OFF TO OUR MILITARY
I'm a Soldier's Angel, and proud to do what I can to support our military. I am so grateful to those who serve for those of us who can't. It's my honor to be able to send goody boxes to my soldier in Iraq. She's my 2nd soldier, as my first one finally finished her deployment and is back in Hawaii. Thank you all! Cherry

Topic: TRICARE Prime/TRIWEST Question
Hello everybody,
Maybe some of you (Military) can help answer a few questions I have about my TRICARE/TRIWEST Prime approval.
I was approved to have the Gastric Bypass at Madigan Army Hospital and I have my consult appointment on the 22nd of January, unfortunately my husband will leave for Iraq sooner then expected and I do not have any family in the US that could stay with me for awhile.
Now here are my questions:
How long is the approval letter good for? (a year, six months etc.)
Can the surgeon at Madigan "extend" the approval?
Did anybody ever have to apply for a second approval letter with TRICARE/TRIWEST Prime?
Did it go through without any trouble?
Thank you so much for your help and time!
Best wishes,
Sandy
Topic: RE: Hernia repair?
I am an Army wife in Texas and I have been told by other military spouses that if you want Trciare to pick up the cost of tummy tuck or other plastic surgery related to the WLS you need to be diligent in taking pics and seeing your physician for every rash or irritation in the affected skin region. I know of two spouses who had tummy tucks paid for by Tricare due to doing a good job documenting it. Good luck!
Topic: RE: Walter Reed does Lap band
My Surgeon told me once that they do surgery on Actuve duty, because they don't want their solders to have to be on special diets. they have to be able to feed you whatever incase you get sent to war or somewhere that does not cater to a special diet. then of course their is the attitude that if you are in the military you are not suppose to be overweight. Although i see a lot of men and woman everyday that would fail a tape test in uniform
Now that was a year ago things change all the time in the military

Topic: RE: Just found the Army board and have a question...
Look on here for the surgeon locater. That is how I found info on my doc here in Germany. I love NC!!! It is beautiful. We were in Jacksonville, it is a few hours away. You should like NC it has a lot of nice scenery and things to do. Also try www.armyonestop.com. YOu can look up your base and sometimes phone #'s for that area. Good luck with the move.

Topic: MTFs that perform lap band???
Hi All
Can anyone give me a list of all the military hospitals that perform lapband.
From what I have seen on messageboards Walter Reed, Fort Bliss ( Jan 07), and Wilford Hall at lackland AFB (this one i am uncertain of) are all doing it, or attempting to get a program started. I have been attempting to look this up for months with no definate results other than I have spoken to folks who had it done at Walter Reed.
My other question is if it is possible to travel outside your region for the procedure.
Thanks for any and all help
