Hi Melissa! I'm Kristin, I have 2 with Autism. My daughter is 3 and my son is 2. I have a 4 year old with possible aspergers.My kids did pretty well when I had my surgery. I was in for 5 days. I had my surgery open it was hard the first week as I didn't have any help. My husband could not take off much time. Just take it day by day. Maybe a social story would help your son? Hi Melissa and Kristin! It's great to see some posters here! I live in Raleigh, NC and have 8yo twins - a NT daughter and my son has HFA. I'm also pre-op and I'm not TOO worried about how they'll handle my surgery... although I know my son will no like that I'm not home for a few days!! He's very much a "momma's boy" which is fine by me!! Nice to meet everyone... Hope we get to chat more.... Cheryl

Hi Cherl!! So nice to hear from you!!! I was worried about my kids too. Try maybe a social story about surgery. Our kids really understand more than they let on. " We as mom's know this" LOL!! Hi Melissa!! You know my daughter taught me this the hard way as they do know more than they let on. Lauren is 3, and about 4 months ago she was giving me a VERY hard time about getting her diaper changed. I got so mad I said to her, ( I really didn't think she would understand) Well then little miss if you don't want to get your diaper changed then stop going in your diaper, act like a BIG girl and pee on the potty! Because I'm TIRED of changing YOUR DIAPER!! Well she gets up and says really loud OK MOM, Runs into the bathroom and sat on the potty. Now she is not 100% trained but does pee on it. Hi Melissa... My week has started out GREAT! I got my approval letter yesterday! Now I just need to wait for the surgery center to call with my date.... trying to be patient, waiting for that phone to ring! How old is Noah? My children are 8... so our potty training days are way behind us.. thank goodness! But, I remember those regressions.. no fun. What problems are you having with your medical group? Is it insurance that you're fighting with? Hope it all works out for you... Cheryl
