Anyone a member of the double or triple Century club?
Hi Rachel,
I was 442 lbs and needed to lose somewhere in the area of 280 lbs. I had surgery on March 30, 2005, and hit the -200 lbs mark this last week. There are several others here who've lost 200 Plus.
I was told the "bigger lost faster" thing by my original surgeon, but my present surgeon doesn't necessarily adhere to that philosophy. My cousins (two sisters) are 1 year ahead of me ... one weighed around 310, the other around 390. Of the two of them, the heavier one DID lose more weight more quickly. At present they weigh 145lbs and 168lbs, respectively, and will celebrate their two year surgiversary on May 20. Of the three of us, I was the heaviest, and they tell me I'm losing on an even faster schedule than they did. We're all with the same surgeon and WLS program, same nutritionist.
A really good source of information for you is Amy Williams on the main board and OH staff. She's truly an inspiration and has a lot of insight on this subject. She has alot of information on her profile/website about her WLS journey.
I'm so happy to see you posting! All the best to you!

i'm a 2 and half century club member! i had surgery a little over 15 months ago, and i'm down 252 lbs so far. i weighed 463 on the day i had surgery...bmi was 66.4. today i weigh 211...closing in on ONEDERLAND! for me, the weight came off really fast the first year, it's slowed down the last few months, but is still coming off.
i believe that amy williams has lost more than 300 lbs...check out her profile. she's a wealth of information!
best of luck to you!

Hello Rachel,
I'm a member of the double century club.
I've lost 205 pounds. I am 16 months post-op.
The weight loss is reallly slow now. Last month I only
lost one pound and the two months before that
I lost three pounds each month. I have also heard
that the bigger you are the fast you lose.
I had gotten up to 425 pounds before.
Best wishes on your journey.

Hello Ann,
Thank you so much, that was sweet of you. No, I have not
had any PS yet. I have lots of loose skin, but I guess I hide
it well. LOL It doesn't bother me I would rather be this size
with loose skin than to be almost 400 pounds. The skin
doesn't bother hubby either (thank goodness). He thinks
I'm sexy. LOL
Congratulations on being down 100 pounds. Your doing
great.
(((hugs)))

I have heard this "faster lose faster" thing too but I don't know for sure. I was 500 on surgery day and am 6 mo & 15 days out from surgery and have lost 135+/- so far. the first 100 cam off super quick and the 35 (or so) came off at about 15 lbs per month. My doc says this seems to be working just fine for me and I am doing super great and feel excellent so just to keep doing what I am doing. In the end I am going to loose like 350 +/- so I will be in the triple century club. My friend Maggie was 485 on surgery day and is now around 145 so she is in the tripple century club too.
take care ou you - Jeremy
