Just curious how many of you with BMI over 50 make it to goal, meaning a BMI within the normal range. Not personal goals or dr goals....but specifically that crazy chart we all judge ourselves on. Thanks for the replies, Melinda who is struggling to get to goal

Melinda, Im not quite within the "normal" range, but Im pretty darn close.. Closer then I ever thought I would be. I started out at 330-- BMI was 56... Im just 25lbs from being in the "normal" range.... While I am not there YET, I will be there very soon... Hard work, eating right, exercise, and positive thinking is what has gotten me to this point.... Before you get too discouraged, try to remember that the lovely "BMI Chart" doesnt take into consideration for your body type.. Some people have larger frames so they will carry more weight and still be healthy and normal.. Thats the one thing I hate about BMI charts.. For me personally I have a large frame. Im not meant to be twiggy thin.. My shoulders are quite wide, my bone structure is large... The more weight I lose the more my bones show.. As it is right now, my collar bones show, my hip bones stick out, and the bottom of rib cage shows on the sides, my wrists are completely boney and lets not discuss how my knees are becoming extremely knobby... I cant lose too much more weight without looking horrible... But yet that chart still shows me as overweight... Dont let a chart get you down! Let your mind and body decide what is "normal" for you!! If you need to "see" that your close to "normal" try having one of those body scan things done.. Where you get into the little egg shaped machine.. It measures your body fat.. That is much more accurate then any BMI chart that goes on height and weight alone... Good luck!

I am a few points or 3 lbs away from having a normal BMI and I started out with a BMI of 65. So it can be done!!! My PCP, BS and PS all feel that I have eliminated all of my obese body fat and that all is left is the skin and sub****aneous fat. I will begin PS in September. Mary 415/163

Melody, Thanks for posting this question. In a couple of days I'll be one year out. I'm starting to doubt I'll make it to goal. I did have my goal set at 168, that would be the highest weight for my height and still be in the normal range. Now, I'm just hoping for 199, but, I'm having a tough time continuing to lose, so I don't know...there are folks on here who have and are doing it...we can too Melody! Hugs, Lori 384/241.5/199
