I HAVE A DATE
Hi Marie,
Congradulations on getting your surgery date
I am so happy for you. It is so frustrating when you have so many hoops to jump through, and your intentions are good to get this surgery..to regain your health! I said this before but..I never had blood pressure problems till my year of hoop-jumping. It was like after I got my date, I never had that problem again. It was so hard NOT to be thinking about it 24/7. Now that my surgery is over..the adventure continues! Denial and self-defeating behavior sometimes creeps up on you. I constantly have to remind myself..why I had the surgery??and why am I trying to do the things(or NOT do the things) that made me fat in the first place?? It's a constant battle, but it has some wonderful rewards too! I am learning more everyday. So glad we as an SMO community, have each other who can relate to the pain of being very overweight to begin with, (not just 50 pounds to lose, if ya know what I mean) Anyways, I am so happy for ya!!! July will be here before ya know it..your own personal independence day..I LOVE it!

You are so correct about the stress of jumping through hoops. Now I have to start a high protein liquid diet starting Monday 5/22 until surgery date to do 2 things, shrink my liver and get my weight down to a more acceptable level for a successful lap surgery. He want me to lose an additional 41 pounds. This is just new stress, he said he will not do the surgery if I don't get the weight down. I know I can do it but do keep me in your prayers.
Hi Marie,
Everytime I hear about someone having to do the weight loss thing before surgery..I get sooo upset.
Especially when the doctor practically threatens you if you don't lose the weight..it gives me a vision of a mean bully ready to knock you over the head with a club
If you don't loose the weight! My doctor did not require a pre-surgery diet. he said, and I also have read, that there is no evidence that this added stress helps at all with the success or non-success of the surgery..especially lap. I know you can do this too!!! remember, you don't have your "tool" yet, it will be much easier after surgery, cause you won't be as ubsested with it as you were pre-op..I guess that is just my experience.
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts Marie!

Thank you all very much. Please, Please keep me in your prayers. I got 6 weeks of liquid protein diet ahead of me and it's going to take God to get me through this. On a lighter side, the team that I supervise at work wanted to know what I can and can't have and how they can help me. They also want me to put together a list of what I can have when I come out of the hospital so they can put a basket togather.
