update on Poppa

Well, they have him stabolized and are going to try to do surgery on his hip tomorrow. They are going to replace the ball joint. He broke it there. They said they could pin it but it would be weak so thought the best thing to do was to replace it. Isnt medicine just qmazing with what the can do now adays. I am going to the hospital tomorrow to stay with Nana. She will not leave poppa for nothing. We have had to take her food today cause she wont even go to eat. They have been married for 54 Years. well I am sorry for not replying to all your posts but I am getting tired and need to get some sleep. bye love you all. marie

Marie, you'll be amazed how much better he will feel once he gets the new hip. Not only that, they will have him up and around almost immediately so he can start rehabbing right away. Three years ago, I fell and spent two weeks in a rehab hospital regaining some mobility. My roommate was a 90 year old woman who had just gotten her hip replaced, and she recovered faster than I did even though I didn't have any surgery done! Good luck to Poppa! Make sure you get plenty of rest, too. It's easy for the family to get worn out at times like this. Kix

Thank You, Kix. His surgery went well and they said they would have him up tomorrow and that they thought he could come home Thursday as long as everything went well. I left about an half hour after surgery and told Nana to try to take a nap while poppa was still under sedation. They are also calling in a urioligist to help with him. He is not draining his bladder completely. They think his prostate is enlarged. which is normal for someone his age. and said he would be able to take medicine for it. but had to make sure it wasnt cancerous. thanks for caring. love marie
