I have bipolar disorder (manic depression) and I take six different medications for it. I *have to* take them, or I go completely crazy. Because of the way the rny is, I've heard you have to be able to crush or chew your meds. I know that all but one of mine comes in tablet form and can be taken that way, now I just have to look into the one that's left to see if it comes in liquid form. I'm just wondering if you take meds for something that isn't going to, or didn't, go away with surgery and if the meds are still working well. Thanks. emily (who's technically crazy but mostly just odd)

Emily, I never crushed any of my meds and had no problems. I think you'll be okay. Just take one at a time and feel how it sits before you take another one. Lori

Emily, I'm worried about this too. I got my PCP to give me script for my meds that can be crushed, but I'm worried about the Wellbutrin. I've read that it is the worst as far as taste. I don't have any answers, just saying I'm here with you sister!

I am bipolar and takes lots of meds. My surgeon didn't have me crush or chew pills. I took two every twenty minutes. Before long, I was taking them regular. I have no problems with absorbtion, although none of them are time released. I now take about 30 pills a day total including vitamins because I have colitis. It is non wls surgery related. I don't have any problems taking handfuls of medication. I went back on my meds while I was still in the hospital. I wish you the very best. Loris
