Does it seem like forever....
I am now 11 months past my surgery. Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone that had their surgery the same time as you i****ting goals about this time, and you are still 100+ lbs away from goal. I am so happy for those people, and not jealous, but all those doubts of success (as when regularly dieting before) creep in. Mind you, I've had some trouble w/ carb control and couldn't exercise last month, so I've been a a plateau. I blame no one but myself for that. I realize that I have done very well, and that the plateau will break and I'll be losing again... but does it just seem like it will take forever to get to the 100's and to get to goal? Obviously it is much faster than the weight came on. Am I the only one that feels this way..sometimes.
Kelli Jo,
On the May 2005 board, yes it does seem like most people are at goal or close to goal. My goal was 168, which was the top of the weight scale for me to be considered normal. I've stressed so much that I'm never gonna get there that I finally changed my goal to 199. So that is 40 lbs away. It seems difficult, but, doable. I exercise all the time, but, struggle with the desire to eat all the time. I'm 45 years old and this body of mine is making me work for it...pound by pound, now that I'm one year out!
Hang in there Kelli Jo!
Big Hugs,

Thanks Lori. You know, I actually did set a mini-goal of 199 also, the beginning of March , to hit it by my birthday 8-19 (guess we all just want to get under 200 huh).
It doesn't look like that will happen though. A friend of mine said to shoot for 199 by the end of the year, but that seems really far out. If not my birthday, it would be nice by Oct... that would be a year and a half from when I started dieting (including before surgery). Nway... it is harder to get the weight off. I'm 38 and I can remember when the weight would fall off on "diets".. now it's a battle. Atleast with this battle, we know we have a better chance of it staying off. Good luck to you also. We are kinda neck and neck. I'm 245... my highest weight was 399 (before surgery). I was 365 at surgery.
Kelli Jo, I too feel you on this issue. I am always happy to hear someone is doing great, but at the same time I step back and look at myself. Yes, I have lost over 100lbs now but I still have a little over 100 more to go. It seems like my goal will never get here. I just try to keep in mind that we all lose differntly, and that I started off as a smo and that it will take a little longer to get it all off. We can and we will do it.Let's just keep on working out tool and keep setting these mini goals. We'll be there faster than we know it.
