Over 500lbs+ with about 2 weeks from surgery...

I have surgery on June 13 and am starting to get preoccupied. I really haven't had that until now. I go for pre-opp testing tomorrow and get my final OK. At least I pray I get my final OK. I was wondering if there were any others out there with as much to lose as myself. It seems like we may be few and far between. I'm looking for success stories to cling to. I'm really doing okay, not scared, but getting a little nervous. Any advice? Thanks, Kelle

Kelle, I didn't have as much to lose as you however, my ex was 560 lbs the day of her surgery and today is hovering around 200 and looks and feels wonderful. She is doing very well. She just had her plastic surgery and they took off about 15 lbs of extra skin. There is great success to be had. You'll do wonderful. If you weren't nervous/scared/terrified, we'd be worried about you. Faith L Lap RNY 350/200/175

Kelle, I'm not a success story yet, but I'm determined to be. My lap RNY is July 17. I weigh 434, so I have a long way to go too. But after reading about a million profiles on here, I sure think I have a chance. No chance if I keep on the way I have been. Hang in there! Julie in WA

Hey Kelle, I think the weeks before surgery were the very hardest for me, of the whole process! I hardly remember it, but apparently, according to my family, I was NUTS! I weighted 477 on the day of surgery, and today, less then 10 months later I weigh 322. This is the first time I have written the real numbers down, so it is a huge deal for me. My life is so much better. I was really in so much pain, I could barely walk. Today, I went shopping in a mall, and never even considered slowing down. It's hard, having such a long row to hoe, but it just goes, day by day, and it's OK. I will be thinking of you, and sending you my most positive energy. You will be OK. Let me know if I can answer any questions. ****d

Kelle, just stay as Positive as you can all along the way. I had my Open RNY on May 10th. and as of last Thursday I'm down 27 pounds already. But almost 70 since Christmas. I'm up walking as much as posible sometimes too much as when I go shopping now and just today came home and took a 3 hour nap. Have faith in your surgeon & staff, they'll take care of you all the way. And suprise everyone by pushing beyond what they expected. But do what you can just for yourself. You have the rest of your New Life to get well and moving again. We'll be seeing you Lighter Later in Meltsville, Mike Oh I started at about 600 & 560 at my surgery time.

Hi, I am 453 and have been searching for the success stories. There are many here - i usually go through the before and after pics and click their name if they look close to my weight to read their story. I am going to have surgery in July. I know this is what I must do to change my life. This is the only way I feel that I will ever be a healthy weight. Congrats and good luck on your surgery! Shellie

I do not have as much to lose as you, but I was 399 when I had my surgery in December. I know there are a few people on here that were around where you are. There is a woman on the main messageboard names Amy Williams that just had her 2 yr anniversay of her surgery and she has lost 350 pounds so far. If you read her story, I am sure you will find some inspiration. It is normal to be nervous about having this surgery, I would be concerned if someone did not have some nervousness about having it. The thing with this surgery, is that if you do your best, you will see great results. It sometimes feels like it takes more time than you want it too, but it is worth it. I am sure you will do fine and I wish you the best with your surgery. If I can be of any help, let me know. Take care Erin

WOW, June 13th is just around the corner!! I didnt have as much to lose as you have, but I do know that it can be done! Look at the people on this board, they have come so far and are still working this tool they have and continue to lose.... There are many success stories here that should inspire you and give you hope for success.. No matter what weight you start at, we all have to struggle with some of the same issues.. With the support and advice from each other we can make it through! This board offers some of the best, loving, caring, and butt kicking support there is... Good luck on your journey.. Amber
