Swelling

Hi! I need some ideas on how to help swelling in my ankles and lower legs. I usually don't have a problem with swelling, but when it is really hot and humid I tend to swell in my ankles. This year though, i am swelling in my ankles, feet and my lower legs. I drink tons of water and even put lemon in it, which helps when I feel bloated from my period, but it doesn't seem to work for this. I have tried elevating my feet too and that hasn;t helped. Other than waiting for the humidity to end, does anyone have any suggestions? Oh, and to top it off...I broke my toe on the ottoman in my bedroom this morning I was surprised when I did it because I was waiting for the horrible pain that comes with stubbing a toe, but it didn't happen. It wasn't until about a 1/2 hour later that it started to hurt and turned purple. Heather

Hi Heather!! I can only say watch your salt intake.. easier said than done since it's in EVERYTHING. Also.. you may want to contact Amy Williams about lymphedema, her site is FULL of good information. Also.. are you a diabetic? It worries me that it took so long for the pain to register. Sorry about your toe...yeeeeeeeeeeeouch!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your reply. My salt intake has been pretty bad lately. I will definately watch it from now on. I am not diabetic, but I am insulin resistant. I will also check out Amy's website. Heather

I would say talk to your doc, you may have lymphedema. Check out Amy williams profile and see if that helps. love marie
