ME!! I eat popcorn once in a great while... I never eat much of it, but Ill grab a handful here and there. The only thing my surgeon warned me about was it might not set right in the pouch- but that goes for anything that I eat or drink!! Just go slow! and watch the butter flavoring, it can be quite greasey and doesnt always sit right.. While popcorn might not be the wisest choice, I dont see that it will harm you in small amounts.. Moderation!! Glad to you see post! Ive been thinking about you almost everyday! Amber

Myra, I eat popcorn a few times a week. I get the little bags of microwave popcorn. I like the Kettle Korn made with Splenda. I have been eating it since about 6 weeks post-op and have had no problems. Again, like Amber said, I guess moderation is the key. As you know, there is not a lot of nutritional value, but it sure is tasty when you are craving something crunchy, and definitely a better choice than potato chips. Carrie

Myra, I eat it with no problems...I guess the only problem I have is that it is tough for me to eat a small amount. I don't get sick. I'm not eating near the amount I ate preop, but, I'd like to feel satisfied with those mini bags and I don't. Lori

Thanks everyone. If you remember, I started out with one bariatric surgeon, then changed to another at about 6 weeks post-op... so I have two programs' information always running around in my head, and it's surprising how different they can be on some things. The first one says NO popcorn, EVER, or risk bowel obstruction (!) ... the second one (present one) says (as you have) small amounts, well-chewed, moderation. My daughter (who watches her fats and carbs) keeps the mini-bags of microwave popcorn around and it smells soooooooooooooooooo good when she cooks it. She almost always leaves about a cup uneaten and it gets tossed into the trash ... while I'm sitting here salivating over it. Nice to know that I can nibble a bit of it once in a while. Thanks! I am deathly afraid to eat popcorn cuz my surgeon lost a patient, cuz the guy ate popcorn and didn't chew it well enough, and it got stuck in his stoma. I guess this could happen w/ anything, but my surgeon says not to eat it at all. With my luck, it would happen to me, so I've stayed away from it.
