greetings all first, late last week, my BMI finally fell into the "overweight" category! i'm no longer obese! (my starting BMI was 66.4) WOW! then, i went to buy a new pair jeans yesterday...and...size 16s are too big now, and i wear 14s! i really don't think i've worn a 14 since elementary school! (i wore 6Xs when i had surgery) DOUBLE WOW! deb (who's having a wonderful life nowadays!)

Hi Deb, Your post made me smile one minute, then cry the next minute!!! Do you think this is hormones or inspirational??? I think alittle of both right now. Congradulations on being "overweight"- - - never thought I'd EVER say that one! I am sooo happy for you! Do I have your permission to kick the next person who tells me that "we" took the EASY way out by having this surgery???? You have done so well and have worked so hard along the way...enjoy the size 14's while you can...next 12's and 10's will be calling your name! HugsGinger

thanks ginger! you know, it's funny -- when i first started reading the boards here at OH, and i'd see threads called "i'm overweight"...i'd think "well, yeah, isn't that why you're here?"...i didn't get that they were talking about the BMI chart. same with the "i've got a date" threads...i thought those were people who'd lost weight and were being asked out on dates! duh! and, yes, you certainly have my okay to kick butt when someone gives you that "easy way out" crap. no one has said that to me...probably saying it after i walk away, but at least not to my face. i can't even imagine a size 12! people keep telling me i'm "normal" sized now...but i still don't see that. i know i'm lots smaller than i was, but i still see a fat woman in my mirror. hope all is going well for you! deb

Deb, Congratulations! That is great! I am so happy for you! I was getting dressed today and feeling fat, as I have my entire life, and then I though to myself, "I am wearing the same size jeans I wore when I was 11 years old. I am 50 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant at 18." Pretty amazing stuff. Then I started thinking, "Maybe I'll get a bathing suit this summer (which I have not owned since I was 8) and go to the beach." Then I though about my horrendous arms and changed my mind And congratulations on being overweight! Once I get to overweight, I will be happy. Best wishes to you and congratulations. Carrie

thank you carrie! i certainly know what you mean about the arms -- sometimes if i move too quickly, i get "slapping" noises from mine! deb

Deb, YAY!!! I'm so happy for you. I really can't imagine being in a 14. The smallest pants I've ever had as an adult were 18's about 24 years ago. You GO girl!! Julie in WA

thanks julie! the whole "14" thing is just amazing to me. i was by myself in the store...really tempted to tell some total stranger my story and that i was wearing a 14! but i managed to restrain myself till i got to the parking lot and called a friend with the news. i'm pretty sure the stranger wouldn't have grasped the enormity of the moment, and would have thought i was nuts! deb
