Actually new to it all! Have been overweight for YEARS now, am 32. Mom to twins, who are 4. Needing to do something.....sigh. WW doesnt work, trying hard by myself doesnt work. So I sat down, and decided that THIS is the way. Went to doctors office for regular check up, they did blood work, found nothing wrong with me except that I weigh too much. BMI is 52. Was thinking that Lap Band is the way to go for me, since i need minimal recovery time with having two small kids. Any advice and experienced stories would be appreciated!!!

Welcome Robin! This is a great board, super supportive! We have all been where you are, or are at least in the process. It's nice to know you aren't alone, isn't it? I don't know about lap band myself, so I will defer any questions to others who know more about it. Welcome!

Hi Welcome to the board. I really do not have much to say about the lapband. All I can say is do research on all procedures. Some of the others can be done lap as well and they may be better for you. I wish you luck. Take care Erin

Welcome to the board! I had open RNY on April 7th but I do think Lab band is way less invasive and it can be undone whereas my surgery cannot. I agree with Erin make sure you check out all the procedures and do lots and lots and then lots more research. Good Luck, Jamie

Hello Robyn. Welcome to the biard. Although I can not tell you what surgery is the best for you. So you research on all of them and then make your decision. Whenever you have a consultation or meeting that you will have to attend, do not be afraid to ask any questions. Good luck to you on what ever procedure that you decide to go with. Kwheen

Hey Robyn, Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! We are glad to have ya aboard. You have picked the best board around (so I think lol)... I also dont have alot to say about the lap band but I was bmi of 67 when I had surgery and was home the next day. I had the RNY lap. I dont know what the time span is there where you live at but its pretty fast healing most of the time. I know it can be hard when you have lil ones at home to tend to and especially twins!! I am a twin also ( the good one) and we were a total handful....(Bart Simpsons sisters) lol.. But dont make the desicion souly on how fast you get back to doing things. I know it is a major thing but also consider all the ins and outs of the surgeries out there. So hang in there and im sure you will make the right choice.... Hugs Marge
