Hi everyone! I have my appointment with the surgeon on Monday. I can't believe it's finally here! They sent me a packet out with some things I have to fill out. It's giving me an axiety attack!! Help! One of the things I have to do is write a food diary for 3 days, and they want me to eat like I normally eat! Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, but I'm afraid they are just going to look at it and go "aha! all you have to do is change this... and this... and this... and you'll lose weight without surgery". I know that. I can lose weight. It's keeping it off that is troubling me. I'm also worried about the past diet attempts. Are they going to deny me for surgery because I obviously couldn't keep those plans up, so who says I will keep the post-op diet up? Aaahhhhh. Maybe I am thinking about this too much. I have just gone through so much I don't want this to all end here over something like this. Did anyone else feel like this? Someone tell me it'll be ok!! jacie

Hi Jacie, I had to look at your profile to make sure you were you!!! I thought, Is that the same Jacie from Studio City, CA??? Yep!! First of all, don't let the paperwork overwhelm you. Yes, the paperwork seems very demeaning..frankly the whole process is quite intiminating. The insurance company really wants you to just quit. I really believe that. I know that some people get approved very quickly...I say, how fortunate for them---wish that was me. The diet attempts are just something you put on paper. I did the 6-month supervised diet thing and gained and lost the same 3 pounds the entire time, and I got the surgery covered. Don't dought that you will not have what it takes to succeed after wls. You will !!! Don't let the whole process of wls get you jerked around emotionally..they want you to get frustrated and quit. You have been through so much already Jacie....You deserve this surgery!! Hugs and smiles, Ginger

Thank you Ginger! I'm going to tackle this paperwork head on and not let it get to me! Thanks for the words of encouragement, that is exactly what I needed! *hugs* Jacie

Hi Jacie, Don't get too upset about the paperwork. They ask you those questions in order to help you. The questions about the diets attempts helps the doctor and the nutritionist know that you have tried to lose weight and that you are able to follow a program, They want to make sure when they tell you to eat a certain way after surgery that you will be able to eat that way. They ask you about your current diet so they know where you stand now with food. I mean they may say, you eat a lot of carbs, after surgery you will want to eat more protein. They want to be honest with you about the things that will be different after surgery. There are many people that feel after surgery, they can eat as they always do and that is not true. The paperwork is just a way for them to help prepare you for what to expect not to disqualify you. I hope this helps some. Take care Erin

Feel like this? I am there with you. My appointment with my surgeon is Monday, too. It's the unknown that is spooky! Let's just fight to stay focused on our goal...and try to distract ourselves so we can't obsess...now I'm going to go and practice what I preach! Best of everything to you on your journey.

Ema! Good luck at your appointment on Monday!! I'm going to stop thinking about this paperwork now and not worry about this any more for now! There is nothing I can do and hopefully on Monday they will see that I will be a good candidate for this surgery and will do what is needed to do. Take care, jacie
