I made my husband a very special, very fattening dinner tonight. I made myself a salad but decided to try a yeast roll. I took one bite it got stuck and hurt SOOOO bad. I tried to take a sip of water to help it down but no go. I stood over the toilet and vomitted and it came up. I've NEVER since surgery hurt so bad!! I said that's it no more of that for me!! I used to LOVE and I mean LOVE Golden Corral/Ryan's hot buttery yeast rolls but after this experience those babies are a thing of the past!! I caution anyone wanting to try these: do so carefully I was seriously ill from just one little bite. I felt so bad I cooked ALL morning and then had to leave the table and my bathroom is right around the corner from the kitchen so I know they all heard me. Oh well trial and error...my new mantra.. Just thought I'd pass this along to anyone thinking about having some. While I'm on the subject I've made a few things out of my after surgery cookbook but has anyone hit on anything that is really tastey that they'd like to share? I'm SOOO over chili for a while and I've eaten enough salads lately to fill my entire house...anything good and cool for summer..please share it with us. HUGS, Jamie

WOW you're brave. i don't think i tried ANY kind of bread for at least the first six months. and cooking a full meal for others - DANG!!! i'm so sorry you had trouble with what you worked so hard for, perhaps some day you'll be able to try the rolls again. our tastes change as we travel on this journey. your's may moderate as you go along. i've been trying a few different things with chicken lately. after a while, i just couldn't choke down plain chicken anymore. so i made some chicken salad, light on the mayo and lots of dill pickle for crunch. i also put buffalo wings sauce on a grilled chicken breast. actually quite good. my toughest meat to digest is still beef. i really like it, though, if i have a small cheeseburger without the bun. or i try ground beef with some open pit barbecue sauce. i find that the more i spice something, the less likely i am to get tired of it. good luck with your quest for new things. oh yeah - HEAVEN HELP ME - i found kemps sugar free ice cream sandwiches. they are WICKED GOOD. dorthe

Hi Jamie, Sounds like you've done your trial and error for sure. I'm with Dorothe about maybe you could try the roll a little further out and be fine. You mentioned salads. A couple of months ago I craved a tossed salad soooo bad. The lettuce or something got stuck that scared me about salads. Lori suggested that i try making a salad without lettuce.. I had to e-mail her back with WHAT? a tossed salad without lettuce??? Yes, it does work! It's crunchy and filling and if you make it yourself, you can control how big the pieces are. I've been having a problem with getting too full too fast. I do my protein first...3 bites later... I ate 1 bite too many. It seems like such a big waste of food..and I've got to get into my head that.....geezs, I had the surgery to fill up quickly..I shouldn't be mad when I do fill-up early!!!! I thought that maybe I had a stricture, but I have no problem getting the water in each day..that is my best thing! I still keep a supply of Papaya pills in my purse for such emergencies. It really does help digest that stuck food!!! Have a great Father's Day with your hubby and kids! HugsGinger

Ooh, yeast rolls! (drooling) Bread is a real trigger for me in terms of eating way more than I should. I could eat an entire loaf of French bread in a day, especially when served with sweet butter and mozarella cheese. I figure I will need to stay far, far away from bread when I have surgery. Why tempt fate? Sorry to hear you were suffering and ing today. Don't you just hate having to learn lessons the hard way? I know I do! Take it easy today and give the poor pouch a rest. Kix
