It's great to be overweight!!!!

Well, I got laid off from my job on Monday. It is an old-fashioned printing company, and they feel that computer-related jobs are not as valuable as, say, for example, packing boxes or stacking up magazines on a pallet, so, when work slowed down, the 3 of us in the IT department were laid off. They plan on using an IT service. Whatever. I suspect that my being out of work for 24 weeks in 9 months and receiving my full pay might have something to do with it, but I was not disappointed at all, and pretty content to take the summer off. I sent out exactly one resume on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I was called for an interview on Thursday, and Friday I was offered a job paying more than twice what I was making, plus better benefits (including insurance for $26 a week versus the $174 I was paying), and it is a huge corporation, not a family company, and I prefer the big company feel. The interviewer said he was surprised I stayed at my previous job so long since I was "clearly wasting my talents and not fairly compensanted." So, I have to take the job. It is a great opportunity and I am starting tomorrow! And I get to dress up for work, even more of a bonus! So, my 6 weeks severance pay from my lasy job is like free shopping money. Yee haw! Of course, that day, the very first thing I did with my severance pay was went out and got a pair of Versace and a pair of Dolce & Gabbana eyeglasses. Not a very sound fiscal decision, but it's OK now! Oh, and I went to the amusement park yet again yesterday, my new #1 hobby and went on every ride, again, and stayed 10 hours. Well, I also ate fried dough, onion rings and some chicken tenders, and drank lots of diet coke (it was HOT yesterday), and still lost 6 pounds since yesterday morning (yes, I realize it was probably the sweating and the heat, but I am still happy). And, I am dating a great guy. He is smart, educated and succesful (and, of course, very cute )and has full custody of his son, the same age as my son. So I am happy about that, of course, too. The problem? He is a fan of gorditas, and maybe someday I won't be one! Well, gotta take it as it comes I guess. So, in spite of my previous beliefs, life is much better for seriously overweight people than for super morbidly obese people. Well, it is hot again today, so we will probably walk tot he park or something. I hope everyone has a great father's day! Carrie

OK, LOL, I had to look up gorditas because I knew you were not currently an item at Taco Bell. hahaha. I've never heard that one before, I guess I am really out of the loop. Congratulations on the new job. Sounds so so much better than what you had anyway. I'm glad that worked out for you!! I'm glad things are going well. It's good to hear. jacie

Did you have any problems with the Diet coke since it is carbonated?? I've read horrific things can happen if you drink Carbonated beverages. Sounds like you had a great day though! Jennifer

Jennifer, I have heard that too, but I have been drinking diet soda since about 2 weeks out, with no problems at all, to tell you the truth. I was actually more concerned about the fried dough and onion rings Carrie
