Hello, everyone! My name is Sue. I have been in the Kaiser Permemte programs limbo to have WLS scheduled since November of 2005. My BMI was 56 when I started and I'm down 40 pounds and haven't computed my current BMI. But it's still there in the qualifying range. I have a couple of questions. 1. Do you think it will be possible to get down to a 75% weight loss after surgery 2. How hard is the battle going to be? I just want to know how you are doing. I haven't got a surgery date yet. I still have 20 lbs to go to satisfy my program director to set up my appointment. How do you keep it fronm driving you nuts? Sue

greetings sue! welcome! very good to meet you. i think you'll find that the people on this board are quite friendly and open about sharing their experiences. i started with a bmi of 66.4 17 months ago. today, i'm down 256 lbs., and my bmi is 29.7. things are going wonderfully for me! my life has changed so much. i can DO things again that were either impossible, or very difficult, before. while the battle is tough, i'm inspired by success...and by WOW moments. my job involves a lot of air travel. my company has been buying me 2 seats on the flights for several years. the first time i flew and not only didn't have to book 2 seats, but didn't even need the seat belt extension...well, i think i was walking 6 inches above the ground for 2 weeks! that was an exciting moment for me! just a couple weeks ago, i bought some size 14 pants...i don't think i've been in a 14 since elementary school (i'm currently 49). anyhow, those are the kind of moments that keep me inspired, and keep it all from making me crazy. so, yes, i think a 75% loss is possible. and i think the battle is difficult, but can be won. all the best to you! deb

Yes, it is very possible to get down to 75% weight loss after the surgery. You just have to make up your mind and do the things the weight loss professionals tell you to do. Everybody is different some people loss more and faster than others. I am so happy and thankful I have taken off as much weight as I have. I feel so much better it is unbeleivable. You should be happy you have started the process. Good luck. John
