I'm Going To Run...
Good for you Tanja!
There is a guy who works for me who trains people for marathons. I just went and told him about your plans and asked if he had any tips. He said he knows you will make it to completion!
He said 2 things are important: 1-start running outside so you get used to it. 2-make sure you have new shoes that have been broken in for the run. When you are a runner you need to buy new good running shoes every 500 miles, he starts transitioning in his new shoes, when the old ones get to 400 miles.
I'm very proud of you!!!!!!!
Lori
Hi Lori,
Thanks so much for thinking enough of me to ask your co-worker for tips! I will definitely have to start running outside more to get used to it because I know just from the times I have run outside, it is much more difficult. Also, about a month ago, I invested in a nice pair of Reebok shoes made specifically for running. I thought if I'm going to be a "runner," I better have the gear - lol. So, they are in good shape but also broken in. I'm pretty sure they have no where near 500 miles on them yet
.
I really appreciate your unwavering support and encouragement. You're always there with something positive to say. Thanks!!
Take Care,
Tanja
Hello my buddy Tan,
What can I say? I know you have the drive and determination to finish anything you start. You have been such an inspiration to me, and for putting up with my WLS for dummies kind of questions you are the best angel and friend ever! I know this was one of the most major steps you have taken since surgery and took alot to join this race. But you see as time goes by and the weight has started to come off a part of the fat person comes off to. You are no longer that same 333lb woman you were a while back. And hopefully she has been put to rest. And yes it can be hard on the brain to recognize that im sure. But just think about it.... A year ago you wouldnt have even amagined doing this race. And like I said, it takes alot to make that first step sometimes even though your head is saying "what the hell are you doing?" so you go kick butt and I just wish I could be there at the finish line but you know your fat cheerleader in Georgia is there with ya in spirit anyway... So go ruuuuunnnnnnnnn Forrest!!!
Hugs Marge
Hye Marge,
Well, you always know just what to say; you have your very own special way with words unlike anyone else... that's for sure! You have also been an inspiration to me and have always been in my corner regardless of what crazy ideas or thoughts I come up with. You never question, just offer your support. You're a very good friend to me, and I don't know how I would have gotten this far without you!! I only hope that I have been half as helpful to you as you have been to me. I wish you could be there at the finish line, too, but I know you'll be thinking about me when you're off strutting your stuff at the beach in your new bathing suit!! We'll get to see each other soon enough; maybe you'll be Forrest Gumping it by then, too - lol (see, now that's something you'd say
).
Your "North Pole" Buddy,
Tan
