WOW Moments at the Hospital
Going to the hospital is never fun, but I did have a few WOW moments while I was there getting IV therapy for my cellulitis:
1. I was able to use a regular hospital bed, I didn't need one of the bariatric beds this hospital has on hand that are more uncomfortable than sleeping on the bare floor.
2. The doctors wanted to do a CT scan on my leg to see if there were any deep pockets of abscess (there weren't) and I was able to fit on, and in, the machine. I felt like I was being xrayed by a giant donut.
3. I was able to fit in the small shower in my room.
4. I was able to fit in the hospital's wide wheelchair, which is smaller than the one I have at home.
5. I was able to walk several laps around the nurses' station, and could have done more if I didn't have to drag the aide with me to tote the portable oxygen.
6. The doctor who admitted me this time was the same one who admitted me back in November. She said, "Wow, you've lost weight!"
This is my second hospital stay for cellulitis. The first one was back in November when I weighed 530 lbs. It was a horrible experience -- the medical staff didn't seem to know how to care for me. This time, at 420 lbs, it was just easier all around.
Now, all I need to do is get better!
