I'm home and alive which is good
Hello all you lovely SMO's,
I got home yesterday, (lap rny on Monday the 17th) I had to stay an extra day because I could not pee. I guess from taking diuretics so long, my kidneys are lazy.
I feel really bloated and miserable, but not nauseaus, the pain is ok with the lortab.
My surgeon was fantastic, the staff at Valley Medial Center are the best I've ever seen and I think the Wish Center is wonderful and I am so glad I used them. They have it down to a science.
I can't believe how much work it is to just get some water in. I'm trying to drink some protein, but have not had much luck yet. I'm working on it. I have no appetite and nothing tastes good.
I had a ton of family and friends at the hospital and much support at home and I feel very lucky and grateful to be alive and making progress. I can't wait to feel good again.
Thank you to everyone who wished me well and sent a prayer, and especially to my Angel, Loris.
Loris, I can't find your email address, and there is no link on your profile to email you, but I wanted to thank you so much for the gift you sent, you are so sweet.
love to all,
Julie in WA
hi julie!
so wonderful to read that you are thru the surgery and doing well. i'm so glad for you!
i think it's normal to have no appetite...i know i had a lot of trouble getting in fluids in the beginning, but it will get easier! just keep trying. i don't know if you're a coffee drinker, but i'm really fond of a protein drink made by EAS called cafe caramel from their coffeehouse line. at 18 months out, i continue to drink them cause i like them so much! here's a link to where i order them in case you're interested - they're on sale right now!

so, congratulations to you, and welcome to the losing side! take it easy, and keep trying to get in as many fluids as you can.

Deb,
I do love coffee, I will get some of that.
I was so sick on friday and saturday it was unreal.
I am feeling much better. I think I was dehydrated, and lacking potassium, because I misunderstood what the doc said about my meds. Friday and Saturday were miserable and I was asking myself the question I never thought I would, "Is this going to be worth it?"
Everything fruity or berry flavored just makes me gag. And of course most of what I have is those flavors.
I went to the market today and bought their "homemade" chicken noodle soup, just got the broth, absolute HEAVEN. It was odd, so odd, because this is an upscale market and usually I want so many things in there but I would pick stuff up and look at the label, and think, "NO!" I was perfectly happy to just get the soup. This is much more of a head trip than I ever dreamed.
Thanks so much for your suggestions, you are a doll!
Julie
Kix,
Sorry it took me so long to reply, my feet and ankles keep swelling and I can only spend a few mins at the computer.
That's so cool that you like our city. We LOVE it here. We are both from small towns, but where we live it still seems like a little village. We live in the North end historical district. It's beautiful.
I'm feeling much better today, was able to get in some more protein and water. yay!
Julie
