Hi Everybody, Wow is life busy! I haven't posted much in the past month or so...but I didn't want you guys to think that I have forgotten all of you and that I have forgotten starting this journey as a Super Morbidly Obesese Woman at 58 BMI. I am now 8 months out from open RNY and I am so glad I had this surgery. It has litterally and figuratively saved my life. I am down 105 as of this morning and I have decided..(thank you Myra ) that I am not gonna make any appologises for not being further along as others are at this point. I had a very rough touch-and-go period imediately following my surgery..for about 4 months later. I am so glad to report that I have for the past month, felt like "me" again. When I started to gain this weight, (over 20 years ago) I just quiit being fun. My life revolved around my making my kids and hubby happy and comfy. I don't regret taking care of my family..I just regret that I didn't take care of me too! I am just now realizing this..weird huh??? Anyways, I just wanted to open this post up to everybody out there on SMO-land. Drop in and say Hi and update us on your progress. I never get tired of hearing about pre-op experiences..it helps us all keep in touch with where we are and where we have been. I know that last year around this time..I found this BMI over 50 Message Board. You guys have helped me more than any book or any class that I could ever take to prepare for this surgery and life afterwards. It helps sometimes to know that you aren't the only one going through the crazy insurance hassles and emotional rampages that seem to accompany this life-saving surgery. Feel free to jump on in...Inquiring minds want to know!!! Hugs and smiles fron Sunny Arizona Ginger

Hi Ginger, I just looked at your profile and you are really looking great! Good for you. 105 lbs is fantastic! My journey. I'm 14 months out. Down nearly 150 lbs. I've had no significant negative side effects of this surgery. I exercise a lot nearly every day. I'd like to lose at least 36 more lbs so I could be under the magic 200! I haven't been losing for a couple of months now, so I'm not so sure I'll make it. But, feel great in so many ways. I'm really out there living my life again! I still struggle with my food addiction. I'm sure I always will. This surgery has saved my life though! Lori 384/235.5/199

Hi Ginger, I'm just starting on my journey, one week and a few days post-op and down 21lbs. I'm thrilled that I was finally able to have the surgery and get to a point in life where I can once again move, and feel human. I've realized over these past few weeks just how food addicted I really am, and it's scary! Janet

Hi Lori, Do you have any idea what an inspiration you are to all of us??? If you never lost another pound... you would still be our hero!!! Focus on how much better you feel..and how your health has improved so much just in the past 14 months. I know I don't see the finish line in sight either..maybe there really isn't a finish line with the fan-fare and all...maybe each day that we make our lives healthier, is our greatest triumph!!! I am also so sorry to hear about your car wreak..eechs! Something like that happening to me would keep me out of the gym..not Lori...instead...you kick it up a knotch or two hugsGinger

Hey Ginger, Girl that is great!! 105lbs is major in my book or anybody elses book. If you are like me, when I did lose any weight I never stayed there for more than fifteen minutes and it was back on up the scale. So yes, noone loses the same just like they didnt gain the same. But be proud whatever the amount is what I say. I had surgery six months ago yesterday and was 397 with a bmi of 67. Now im 271 and bmi of 46 this morning. And boy, what a journey its been. Not any complications but hair loss and nausea for a while. But feeling so much better everyday. Been big my old life just about so alot of wow moments for sure. So good luck and keep up the great work!!! Hugs Marge

Hey Marge, I hear what you are saying about the difference from losing weight pre-op as opposed to post-op. The pre-op weight-loss was there one day..then back on the next day!!! Isn't it cool that the weight comes off and actually stays off?? HugsGinger
