Am I drinking too fast, 11 days out?

Hey S'mores, I had lap GBP on Monday the 17th and I have been doing my best to sip enough water, but I just feel constantly thirsty. It's been above normal temps here since I got home from the hospital. I am on full liquids, but was a big water drinker before so the lack of fluids is driving me nuts. So since I was feeling so good, yesterday I started taking bigger drinks more often, maybe 1 oz at a time, every 4 or five minutes, sometimes oftener. I felt so good and finally not thirsty. It did not hurt to do it, just sometimes felt like there was a bubble there and then I would burp and it would go away. This morning a woke to a painful tummy. It feels burny and hurty. Not terrible pain but there. All I have been eating is strained soup and Matrix protein drinks, not getting enough protein either, but thought the water was more important. Do you think I hurt anything? My surgeons office is closed until tuesday. Julie

No i Don't think you hurt anything you can't hurt your pouch with liquid but it can make you gassy if you drink to fast! I can drink really good now but when i first has surgery it made me sick to my stomach to drink faster then just sip i would wake up in the morning and forget and take a big drink of water and it hit me when the pain and nausea started lol believe me it hurts when you drink to fast aslo! Just keep sipping and try sugar free gum it helps me with the thursty filling and if you get speriment it helps with the nausea filling and ask your doctor tuesday about a liquid gas relief Bye and take care marlena!

Marlana, I'm starting to think it is gas. It is not bad pain. And since I had enough water yesterday, my legs and ankles are not swelling. I just felt panicky because I had not had pain or gas for 3 days and I felt guilty about not following DR's orders to a T. Orders from DR. were to use one ounce cups and not drink more than 3 OZ in a 10 min period. ARGH!

Julie, I had the thirsty problem too since I was a big water drinker before surgery. It gets bettter. I now drink as much as I ever did. I don't think you've hurt anything, but, if your pain gets bad, go to the ER. You can never tell when you are this early out. Hugs, Lori

Lori, The pain is better and I have been burping. One thing I did different last night was take a dose of multi vitamin right before I laid down. (Isotonix in water) I'm wondering if that burned my new tummy a bit? I will for sure not mess around if the pain gets bad. Julie

Early out I always woke up hurting and burping... before I even got out of bed... I'm not sure what caused it, maybe because I snored really bad and slept flat of my back.... however, as soon as I'd lost over 50 lbs this all stopped.....
