Good morning everybody!! Hope everyone is good!! I am 9 days short of being post op 1 year my starting weight was 361 I know weight 221, my question is how many calories a day should I be eating. My nut says 800 a day but I have been eating that for a long time so I am a little confused, I have gone back to eating somethings that arent so good for us but I am getting better at controling them thanks to all of you and your support. If I could just lose another 22 lbs I would be happy more would be great but just to be under 200 lbs would be fantastic!! Any input would be great and thank you everybody you all are great!! Nanette 361/221/???

My nut just told me yesterday (6 months out) that I should be eating 1000-1200 cal.s She also said to increase my protien intake and it would help me loose better. I am supposed to get 60-80 protien. Hope this helps! Leeanne

800 is way too low and will stall your weight loss. I am 17 months post op and have been done depending on my activity, 1200 calories or more. OF course i lossing slow now too, but then again, i have a lot less to loss. It averages out to 15% of my extra weight every month. Good luck, Melinda

Nanette, I think you may be eating too few calories also. My dietitian recommends from 1100-1200 after a year out. she also recommends a high protein, less processed carbohydrate. When your body is getting too few calories, it thinks that it is starving, even if you are carrying extra weight, so it refuses to let go of its energy stores (extra weight). I think you will see more weight loss when you start eating a little more. Add a yogurt, or some cottage cheese or a hardboiled egg. All of these items have protein and have just enough calories to get to an acceptable level without doing too much damage. My weight loss has slowed down, and I know its because I have been eating too many carbs and not getting enough exercise. I want to be permanently below 200 and it doesn't seem to be happening. My highest weight was 480....and I have an enormous amount of extra skin. If I got that taken care of I think I would be below 200...But I want to be be below 200 before I get anymore surgery... Good Luck, Kelly 480/217/???
