I exercised on an elliptical machine at my heaviest (around 400 pounds). It was a Precor machine at my local gym. Good luck! Kellie

Janice, I would not recommend buying one until you have tried one at a gym for about 2 weeks. I love the workout I get on an elliptical, but, it kills my knees. For some people, it is easier on their knees, but, not me. Lori

Lori I had the same problem. The ones at the gym I use are Precor and I had to stop using it because my knees hurt so bad. I now use the treadmill with the hill program and it gives my legs a good workout with the inclines. I just can't use the Elliptical anymore. I also use the exercise bikes and get a good workout. I think Lori is right I would defnitely try any equipment at the gym first. I know that if I bring something home it ususally just sits in my house..it's when I get out of the house that I actually use the equipment..lol. Please keep us updated... Hugs, Jamie

Thank you all for replying. I think I will follow the advice of most of you and try one for awhile before I buy, they are kind of expensive. I do not want to get one and not be able to use it because of my knees. My knees are causing me a lot of trouble already, even with cortisone treatments. Anyway, this meant a lot to me for ya'll replying so fast to my post. I went to buy one today but decided I would wait awhile and try one at the gym. Love you guys!! janice

If your having knee problems maybe you should try some water aerobics. I didn't like it, but it's very gentle on your body. scott

Scott that's a very good suggestion. I've talked to several people who've taken a class and really enjoyed it. I personally haven't tried them but would love to give it a whirl. I LOVE the water and I figure if we're all there working out no one will notice me in the dreaded bathing suit! Good Luck Janice with whatever you choose and please keep us udated Hugs, Jamie
