What do you eat in a day time and how far out are you.
First off I am 5 monthts out and I dont even know if I am eating the right types of food, although I do try to stick to protein first. My appetite is getting worse instead of better as they say it would come back around now. I dont have much of an appetite at all. So tell me what you eat in a day.
Here is what I ate today
4 oz lowfat yogurt with One scoop of protein mix added 25 grams of protein
2 slices pickle loaf lunchmeat
3 ozs of tuna with miracle whip
4 oz. lowfat yogurt with once scoop of protein mix added 25 grans of protein
for liquid I drink very wea**** tea all day made with equal. , I mean like a gallon of it. I am drinking all the time no problem getting liquids in. And I make it very weak. so it is not so bad.
I am sooo glad you started this post. I was just about to get on and ask what type of milk everyone drinks. On my April buds board someone suggested a carb countdown, Hood I believe the name of it was, milk. I shop at the commissary and I didn't see it there. I switched from 2% to Fat Free but it's still too many carbs. I mix my shakes with milk and will have two or three a day with roughly 13 oz of milk. Any suggestions? I might have to bite the bullet and buy the expensive soy milk again. I guess it can't be anymore expensive than regular milk though..I'll have to check.
Today I had:
Breakfast:....13 oz of fat free milk and one scoop of Isopure chocolate protein powder
Water and multivitamin 30 mins or so after that.
Lunch:.....1.5 cup of salad mix with grape tomatoes ( I love those little buggers..mmm.) 1 Tablespoon of Light Done Right Cucumber Ranch.
Snack:......13 oz of fat free milk and one scoop of Isopure choco protein powder.
Dinner:.....1/2 of a 3 oz can of tuna. I was on my way out the door to the gym and just couldn't eat the rest.
16 oz of water at the gym.
Snack:....13 oz of fat free milk and one scoop of Isopure protein powder.
I say snack but really it's my protein so I'm not sure what to call it.
I took in 778 calories ( I think that's what my fitday said) I burned 300 on the treadmill at the gym. I have a HARD time getting in enough water. I just never know when to drink. I literally have to spend the day planning a meal or a drink if I want to get it in..actually I've never since surgery been able to get in all my water. I have Lipton honey green tea and it's pretty good I put that in my water bottles. I MISS MISS MISS my Georgia Sweet Tea like an addict!! I used to LIVE on iced tea and now it's water and milk. I take a sip of juice every now and then to keep the ol bowels moving..(doesn't help much). I still can't take pills so I'm really trying to chug down the protein so my hair will stop falling out. I don't see the nutritionist again until October. I'm down to 222 from 297 and sometimes I'm happy about it and sometimes I get discouraged but I just have to keep reminding myself that if I keep working out the muscles will start to show and the flab will reside.
Hugs,
Jamie
Hey Jamie, I cannot help you with the milk thing. As I cannot seem to tolerate milk. I have just eliminated it from my diet. But if you like yogurt I mix my protein with it.
Oh dont get discouraged sweetheart. It will come off. My weight has been stalled for about a month now but my clothes are getting baggier. So I figure I must be gaining some muscle. As far as the flabby skin I dont think much will help but the plastic surgeon and since I havent figured out how to pay for that, maybe down the road, I figure I will learn to live with it. Oh and the hair isnt it awfull, I figure if I keep losing like I am I will be bald in a few months although my nurse assures me that that will not happen. If you seen my bathtub after I take a shower you would know someone is going bald. lol
Glad to hear you are doing well. though , Thanks. love marie
I'm 9 months out and here's a typical day for me:
Breakfast:
1/2 cup All Bran Buds (high fiber cereal)
1/2 cup blueberries or sliced strawberries
1 cup 1% milk
Snack:
tall latte w/ SF vanilla syrup
Lunch:
green salad w/ lots of veggies (romaine lettuce, shredded cabbage, carrot shreds, raw mushrooms, cucumber)
3 oz. lean protein (chicken, beef, lean deli lunchmeat - basically whatever is in the fridge)
1 oz. low-fat cheese
2-4 tbsp. of a light/low-fat salad dressing
Snack:
4 oz. cottage cheese w/ 2 tbsp. SF preserves & 1/2 cup blueberries
OR 8 oz. Breyer's Light yogurt w/ a couple tbsp. of old-style muesli cereal (raw grains)
Dinner:
4-5 oz. lean protein (chicken, beef, pork, fish - again, whatever is in the fridge or looks good at the grocery store)
steamed or sauteed veggies or salad
Snack:
sugar-free fudgesicle or Edy's no-sugar added fruit bars
These days tend to provide between 1200-1400 calories and 80-100 grams of protein, all from food sources. My nutritionist encourages her patients to try and get their protein from food rather than supplements, although I did use supplements during the first 1-4 months after surgery. After that I was able to get sufficient protein from food sources.
I know the 1200-1400 calories may seem high, but I work out 4-5 times per week for between 40-45 minutes each time. So my calorie intake and my calorie burning are balanced quite nicely at this point. I make adjustments when I stall; mixing things up helps keep the losing going.
Anyway, I hope that's helpful. Good luck on your continuing journey!

I am 14 months out and here's my food plan for today. It's fairly typical
AM - 2 cups of hot tea
B - Atkins protein shake and a nectarine
L - Atkins protein bar, raw baby carrots, and carb control yogurt
S - weight control oatmeal and some fruit
D - "gastric bypass bacon cheeseburger", which is a boca burger, 2 pieces of light turkey bacon, and a piece of 2% american cheese served in a low fat whole wheat tortilla with lettuce, onions, ketchup, mustard and light mayo. With that I will have some type of raw veggies and a s/f jello. I probably will not have room for the jello, though.
No food after dinner
Breakfast consist of a premier nutirtion protien bar
Lunch 3 slices of turkey with cheese and tomatoe
snack today might be a pice of jerky
dinner some kind of protien with something green.
I drink decaf coffee with ice an light lemonade or crystal light or just plain water I usually get in about 120 oz per day.
