When you reach goal, are you going to do PS??
I am so scared of any kind of surgery. When I lose all this wt., I am going to still look terrible, I probably will have a lot of sagging skin. I am so afraid I will not have PS. Is there some kind of clothing that will hold everything in, like a corset? LOL. I was just thinking one surgery leads to another, although, I believe I can handle sagging skin better than being overwt.!!! What do you all think?

Hi Janice,
Oh yea I've got tons of saggy skin. I'm with you...I would rather
have the loose skin than to weight 379 pounds again. No one
can see it just hubby and he doesn't mind. Believe me he doesn't
mind. LOL
I would love to have PS but if it doesn't happen I'm ok with that.

Janice,
Im within 15lbs of goal... Im now facing the fact that I need some major PS.. I have tons of excess skin which I could live with if I didnt have so many rashes, infections, etc that goes along with it. When I had my RNY done I didnt think I would require much PS, reality is that I do need it. Thankfully my insurance will cover most of what needs done, but Ill be eating the cost of whatever they wont pay for. So your right, one surgery leads to another and another and probably another! I would much rather live with the skin and all the problems that come along with it then to go back to being SMO... Ill take saggy skin anyday!

Hey Janice I'm seriously hoping I'll be able to live with the skin. I don't know though we'll have to wait and see. The thought of another surgery really scares me. I did fine with my first one but just don't know if I'd do another. I won't be close to goal until sometime next year so I still have time to ponder it. I'm 222 now that's down from 297 and I think my goal is somewhere around the 145-150 possibly even 155 range. I think it just depends on how I feel when I get down that far.
Take care,
Jamie
Yes.
I will definately have a boob lift (maybe w/ augment). I am only 25 and because of the skin being loose, my ladies hang VERY low now and I am still 60+ pounds away from goal.
I am uncertain about the tummy... I haven't any children and I don't know how smart it would be to get any abdominal surgery and then be pregnant later on in life???
I will have plastic surgery to get rid of some of my excess skin. I may only be able to do whatever my insurance will cover though since I don't think I will have the money to self-pay. (My insurance will pay for the removal of excess skin from my stomach if I maintain a loss of 80 pounds for a certain period of time. Any other plastic surgery is only covered if it's deemed medically necessary, meaning I'm getting rashes or infections in the excess skin.)
I think this is really a personal choice. Some people are okay with the excess skin and others are really bothered by it. I just look really funny with all the excess skin and I would rather get rid of it. But what you do is up to you!

Janice,
I have not really decided yet. My surgeon strongly recommends that you wait 12 to 18 months after you reach your goal weight before you get plastic surgery, because your body continues to change. I'm 36 lbs away from my goal weight and I haven't been losing anything for a couple of months, so I figure PS is pretty far out in the future for me. It will not be covered by insurance. I'm hoping to do a tummy tuck and breast reduction/lift as they are my biggest problem areas.
I've seen the surgery on tv though and this is no small matter. It is a very long painful recovery. Much worse than WLS!

Janice,
I'm not. I have had enough surgery. And, with my hernia repair, I developed a seroma, and that really scares me. Anyway, the skin is not bad. My stomach could look a little better, but I don't plan on appearing in any adult films or wearing a bikini, since I am over 25, so I am fine with that. My legs are great and my arms aren't so bad, I have even been wearing sleeveless dresses. Like everyone said, skin is better than fat.
Good luck,
Carrie
