I would rather sew my lips shut than have to ask this question but its really been bothering me since surgery and I'm finally going to ask. I do not have the horrid breath I started out with but I do have horrid smells other places and have since surgery. At first I thought it was just all the chemicals being released from my body and all the protein and stuff, now I'm not sure what's causing it. Has anyone else had this problem? It is the worst smell ever...not like urine (which pre surgery I had all the time because I was so heavy it was just leaking out of me) but just a funky smell. I take a shower everyday and sometimes two. I just can't seem to wa**** away..it's always there. It's causing problems with my husband. It's embarassing for me and now that I'm a little thinner I'd like to enjoy my husband but this is standing in the way. I'm really trying to be delicate here and tip toe around this because it is AWFULLY embarrassing! Is a normal part of the journey? Is there anything I can do? Thanks for allowing me to ask even the most personal questions and know you guys will understand. Jamie

No need to tiptoe around here -- you're among friends! Besides, if you sew your lips shut, how will you get in your required protein and water? I know that rapid weight loss can cause body changes which results in having stinky B.O. temporarily, but I'm not sure that's true about female naughty bits. Maybe it's the hormonal changes that come along with the weight loss. Have you talked to your GYN about it? Kix

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, you may have some type of vaginal infection that's unrelated to your WLS. There are several types that can cause bad odors and there are all sorts of reasons they can develop. I'd suggest having this checked out by your PCP or ob/gyn. It can probably be taken care of with an antibiotic and/or some type of cream. Don't be embarrassed; it's just a medical condition! Good luck getting this handled quickly, so you can jump your husband with wild abandon - Kellie

Yea I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and talk to Him I hate to talking to men about female issues. It's not like a infection smell or anything like that it's like medicine..isn't that gross? It smells like what I eat..vitamin smell...it's just gross. Okay Thanks guys, Jamie

Ahhhhhh!! Vitamin smell??!!??!!?? Have you been going through my past???? I had an annoying "smell" that I couldnt get rid of for a couple months! I thought something was wrong when it didnt clear up... I finally went to see an ob/gyn, he was clueless.. no infection, nothing out of the ordinary... So I asked my WL surgeons office about it.. They determined that it was actually my VITAMINS!!! Something about a couple of the things in my multivitamin wasnt being absorbed and was "washing" out of me through urine... Once I changed my multi the smell went away and everything was back to normal! The vitamin that I was taking was a chewable pineapple vitamin... Im not sure your problem is the same but if all else turns up nothing, try changing your vitamin! Just make sure whatever you change to is okay with your surgeon! Good luck Jamie! Hopefully you can get this cleared up quickly! The time with your husband is important!! And remember- it does count as exercise too!!! Amber

I think that you're on to something with the vitamin angle... I know that I recently tried the Dollar General generic version of the Hair/Skin/Nails vitamin and had a funky digestive tract odor/taste going on. I only experienced it when I took the vitamins in that day and once I stopped them, it never happened again. The odor/taste was very much the same as what the vitamin pills smelled like in the bottle. SO, I think you may very well find that it is in some way related to your vitamins when you dig deep enough! So, call that doc and start digging!! Can't have you giving up on all those superb exercise opportunities with hubby! LOL Hugs, Lea
