I think I'm going to join Weigh****chers

I have to tell you that this is a tough decision for me. I'm 15 months out since my surgery as of today. I've lost close to 150 lbs. But, I'm actually up 2.5 lbs in the last 3 months. As you guys know, I exercise a lot. Usually a total of about 90 minutes a day. I struggle with appetite though. I record my food choices in fit day, so I'm well aware of what and how much I'm eating. At my work, they are starting a new 12 week WW course that you pay for in advance ($121), the second 12 weeks is $84. I'm just thinking that maybe I can move off this plateau and actually lose this 38+ lbs that will finally put me in onederland....but, I feel like kind of a failure for having to do this...I mean, what the heck, I had weight loss surgery and now I'm back at Weigh****chers...I'm so scared about gaining my weight back, I am willing to try anything. actually Lori I think it sounds like a really good idea. I saw a commercial for them last night and thought about joining myself. You get great support, meetings, food advice, exercise advice..it's a really great program. I say GO FOR IT!! Can't hurt right? Jamie PS Haven't been posting in the gym section my gym buddy decided 20 dollars was too much and shopping was more fun so I haven't gone back alone...YET! I paid my money for August and I think I went a total of one day if that this month. I need to get off my pity pot and get back in there!! Give me a big push will ya??

I've been to WW many times, and of course always lost ... then stopped and gained it back. My surgeon says WW has a 5% success rate. What I'm wondering is will you be able to eat as much as they want you to? I'm only 5 weeks out, so have no clue as to how much you can eat at 15 months. I think with everything you've been through you know how to eat right and really don't need WW, except maybe for the companionship? Your a great inspiration to those of us just beginning our journey, so I wish you nothing but the best! Janet

Hi Janet! I'm 15 months out and can easily eat a day's worth of points. Anyway, congrats on your five weeks! Hugs, Tracy

Janet, The appetite does come back. I still eat a whole lot less then I used to, but, I know I can easily get in my points. This is why so many people gain their weight back after WLS, when their appetite comes back and they haven't developed the good eating habits and the exercise, they just plump up again! I'm determined not to let that happen to me! It feels too good to have that 150 lbs gone!!! Even if I lose no more, I hope to have lost that forever! Enjoy your lack of wanting or being able to eat as long as it lasts. For me, my appetite starting coming back at 6 months. Ever since I passed the 12 month mark, it has been a struggle for me. Big Hugs, Lori

Jamie, There is no doubt how helpful having someone to exercise with is, but, you can do this on your own and enjoy it! When I first started exercising I exercised with a neighbor. She was very committed and had lost 80 lbs on Atkins. She and I worked out together for several months, then she moved. I feared I would quit. Especially since I go at 5 am and it is so hard to get up some days! But, I drug myself there. I've now made quite a few friends at the gym. When I don't show up, they all ask me, where were you? We don't exercise together but we do say hello and notice when each other is there. You need to go at a regular time though each time so that you can meet the regulars. You don't meet everyone at once, just little by little. Another tip that really keeps me going is that I have an iPod and I listen to books on it while I work out. Some books are so good, I forget I'm exercising! Did any of this help? Lori

Yes it did Lori..THANK YOU!! I'm determined to go tonight. I just need to get back up on that horse and get going. I think an Ipod sounds like a good idea. I'm getting close to 200 lbs and hubby said he'd get me a little gift when I reached it so I think I'll ask for one. I know that once I get in there and start working out I'll feel SOOO much better. I just feel Blah when I don't go. Not to mention that 20 bucks is being wasted! I'll be posting in the gym section tomorrow!! Thanks Lori for lighting a fire under me! Jamie

Lori, I joined WW a little while back and I think you will benifit from what the program has to offer. Be a guest and sit in at a meeting and check it out! I recommend it whole heartedly. I admit that I was a skeptic, before I checked it out myself

Hey Lori, There is the pay as you go plan, I am going with the monthly card and then each meeting costs 9.22 and there's no charge for missed meetings or you can go to as many as you like. Check it out on the website.

Great minds think alike, Lori, because I am planning to do the EXACT same thing for the EXACT same reasons - get off this plateau and lose the last 30+ pounds. Please don't feel like a failure. My surgeon says a lot of post-ops join weigh****chers for extra support and structure, in fact he's a big fan of it. We now have the "tool" to make WW work, where we didn't have it before. WW and WLS are all about permanent lifestyle changes and naturally compliment each other. Anyway, we don't have it her at work, so I'm just waiting for one of WW's free membership drives, so I'll only have to pay the weekly fee. I wish you the best! Hugs, Tracy
