Wisdom teeth - ouch!

I had my two lower wisdom teeth extracted last Friday and I'm still in pain! I think I'm just a wimp, but dang this hurts. I went to work today, but am seriously thinking of packing it in and going home to my ice pack and my percocet. And to add injury to insult, I gained 5 pounds since I had my wisdom teeth extracted. Which is pretty interesting since I haven't been able to eat much. I'm hoping that I'm just retaining fluids... Anyway, just wanted to whine Kellie

Absolutely go home and get some relief. I am sure your gain is part fluids and partly because you're not getting in enough calories and your body is on "reserve" like if you were starving. My best friend went thru this and she is so NOT a whimp and it kicked her butt big time. She lived on pain killers and KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. Take care and I hope you feel better real soon!!

I did go home early and one of my girlfriends made sure I had lots of SF frozen treats in the freezer. I'm feeling a bit better today, but am still swollen and sore. Dental pain sucks! Kellie

Thanks, Wls Chik! I did pack it in early yesterday and go home to my percocet, some hot tea and cold popsicles. I also had some mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner - I'm still having a hard time chewing and needed something squishy. I'm still swollen, but am feeling somewhat better. Am taking tylenol during the day so I can function at work, but am looking forward to going home at the end of the day and popping another percocet! Thanks again for your well wishes Kellie

Thanks, Jamie. I put off having mine taken out for about 20 years; I finally gave in when I got a cavity in one of them and my dentist refused to fill it. Plus, mine were partially exposed, whi*****reased my risk for certain types of nasty gum infections. I suspect that it would have been a lot easier on me if I'd had this done 20 years ago, but I'm a dental wimp Good luck when you decide to get yours taken out - it'll be painful, but you will survive! Kellie
