ER visit
I went to the ER about my persistant abdominal pain. It hasn't been that bad, but I figured they would run all the needed tests. It didn't seem like kidney stones again, because the pain wasn't moving. Turns out my right kidney is full of stones and one is sitting at the exit to the kidney causing it to be slightly inflamed. It's surprising I am not in a lot of pain. I am supposed to follow through with the urologist. I wonder if they will want to "zap" it. Any thoughts on this? Loris
Hey Lori,
Kidney stones Stink! I'd rather have a baby everyday than have another stone! For my stones they put me in a tub and zaped them with ultrasound. It took a long time, and then I had to pass them...Thank God my doctor was liberal with pain meds! This was 10 years ago, I hope they have a quicker method now!
You'ld think that as a nurse I'd know, but I haven't seen anyone with stones on my unit. Good luck, and thank goodness you're not hurting!
Kate
Sorry to hear this Loris, and hope your feeling better soon.
My husband has a history of kidney stones, and it's the only thing that I've ever seen to break him. He was crying like a baby he was in so much pain. Turned out the the stone was way too large to pass and they had to go in and get it. He's now on Allpurinol daily to prevent stones from forming.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
