I have been struggling with losing the last 6-10 pounds needed so my surgeon will scheduled my surgery. I just can't seem to drop them.I have cut calories and have done everything I know to do besides completely stopping eating. Had blood drawn last week to see if my thyroid levels are rising but haven't heard back on results. HELP Can anyone give me some ideas, directions or advice as to what else I can do?? Nelle

Aaaack to surgeons with strick weight loss requirements! Maybe you have cut your calories too much. Have you tried Atkins? Have you considered a liquid protien diet? I have no other suggestions, but I will offer you a big hug. Loris

I agree with Loris. Sometimes when you drop your calories your body holds on (too smart for its own good) I did South Beach phase I pre op and lost 8 pounds the first week and 5 lbs the next without counting calories. Just a suggestion. Good luck. Denise

Hi Nelle- How are you doing? I don't know how great this advice is but my surgeon had me on a two week liquid diet (with protein shakes) and I lost 21 lbs...I didn't exercise or anything though as we all know it sure couldn't hurt... Maybe you could give that a try.. It can get kind of frustrating though.... Good luck losing those last few pounds... Katrina

I am having this same issue and as of today I am on a protein train. If you can get your body into ketosis, you WILL lose!! Just increase your protein intake >60g and your water intake at least 100 oz a day, limit carbs to 20g a day. I also lost 40 lbs on the South Beach Diet. Sometimes u lose more when you eat instead of starving yourself and your body holds on. I HAVE to lose 10lbs by 9/25 when i weigh in for my surgery on 9/26 so its down to the wire. To add insult to injury, i have a sinus infection so I am just getting through. Good luck to you! hugs
