NO MORE LAYAWAYS AT WALMART! UGH...
Good morning all buds out there,
I just thought I would pass along some info that I recieved a few days ago.. My sister lives in north Ga near Athens (go dawgs) lol and she called and told me that she seen on her news that Walmart is no longer gonna have layaways anymore where she lives. So I got on the horn here and called and the lady said.... We will no longer have that nationwide at all. They said it takes more to keep it going than what it is worth... Can you amagine?? Walmart aint hurting let me tell you. I alone keep them in business lol... So she said this is the last of the christmas layaways all together. She said they will let you put up Christmas ones only right now and this is the end of it for good. So I dont know about yall, but when my kids were growing up I had to depend on them layaways... When you have a big family or just love Christmas ( like me) lol I was always one of the first ones around to hit the layaway. Oh well now. But just wanted to pass this info on to all the shoppers out there with the holidays coming... Poor Walmart.... Missing out on the money.....
Hugs Marge
I remember when I worked retail (back in the olden days when gas cost 41 cents a gallon), layaway was a good part of our business. I worked in a store that sold baby furniture, etc., and couples would come in as soon as they knew they were expecting, choose what furniture they wanted for the baby, put it on layaway, and get it paid off before the baby came.
I guess Walmart figures everyone has credit cards now, so why bother offering layaway. Too bad! Another good thing from the past, gone.

I was actually thinking about how we always used layaways growing up for back to school and for Christmas and it was good for us...good for our credit to! And it was only what like a $5 or $10 charge. I even could do layaway at Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant when I was in high school. It was very good to pick something out and have to make payments towards it and not get that instant gratification. It was pay first enjoy later...now we are in a enjoy now pay later society. Well those of us who even have credit and to think Walmart who had many customers who can't get credit and must rely on layaway to get large items for family members...maybe it's not worth it to them but it's worth it to their customers. I hope K-mart keeps layaway and keeps many of the Wally world customers business.

Marge,
Currently, I'm listening to the book "The Walmart Effect" on my iPod while I exercise. It is really quite good. It basically discusses Walmart's business practices, how it treats it's employees and suppliers and the effect it has on surrounding businesses and populations when it moves into an area. Believe me, they cut everything that costs them money...I'm surprised they even had layaways! I have been amazed at what a giant effect Walmart has in so many ways on our economy...but, there is truth to the statement that there is a "high cost to low prices."

Hey Marge,
Thanks for the heads up! I called my friend in Ga and she was devastated. She is a HUGE layawayer! She can't believe that Wally would do it...but it comes down to the almighty buck! I myself have put plenty of those in the pockets of the Wally big whigs but I guess they really don't care what the customer thinks. I wouldn't be at all surprised if customers launch complaints and even petition to try to get it back. As for my friend she said forget it...she's going to be a Target shopper from now on. They don't have layaway either but she likes the store better and so off she goes. Wally has lost one very loyal customer!
Hugs,
Jamie
PS I'll just be glad to see the inside of a Target or a decent Wally...wheww it's like Blitz Sale here ALL the time!!
