I just picked up my CPAP machine today and my settings are 6. I was reading the Polysomnogram Report and the Diagnosis is as follows: 1. Mild rem-related obstructive sleep apnea 2. Periodic limb movements of sleep 3. Type 1 2nd-degree heart block Naturally, # 3 has me totally freaked out! What does this mean? I have calls into my pcp, my heart doc (still waiting on results from the nuclear stress test)... to see if someone can explain to me what all of this means, because the words "heart block" are scaring me. Would really appreciate any thoughts or insight any of you may be able to provide.

I pretty sure they can't tell if you have a heart obstruction without doing at least an echo cardiogram (which they don't do during a sleep study). But call your doctor, and ask him what this means. They do monitor your heart while your sleeping, and how your breathing is effecting your heart. 6 as a setting for a Cpap machine is very low. I started on 14, 5 years ago, was switched to a bypap with levels of 15 and 17 and then was upped to 16 and 19 at the very end. (by paps have 2 different settings). I don't sleep with a machine anymore, I don't need it. I hope your doctor calls you back soon Scott

I heard from my heart doc today, Finally! She told me my nuclear stress test results came back fine, and she's approving me for surgery. The 'heart block' thing in the sleep study indicates what the heart doc saw on my ekg - it skips a little bit every millisecond or something.
