New Kid!
Hello all!
I am a new kid around here. I have posted on the RNY and on the main message board as well. I saw this board and thought "Hey! I can be in this club!!". I get excited about the darndest things these days.
I received my approval for surgery last Wednesday. I was one of the unlucky few to be told to do the 12 month diet after my denial last year. So-I did. I am actually okay with that and have found that I feel a bit better informed because of it.
So-my BMI is 62.2. Ding ding! I can't wait to see that change!
I just wanted to say hi and that I am here and excited to meet some new friends.
As I have said in other posts-I will probably wear my friends and family AND laptop out before my surgery date. I am all about "blah blah blah WLS..and blah blah WLS!??!?!" Poor folks-thank goodness they love me. But I do notice their eyes starting to glaze over.
Nice to meetya all!
Peace,
Therese

Hi Therese,
Welcome.
I read your post and just had to laugh.
I have noticed the same thing going on with all of my friends/families eyes as well. I know they must be tired of hearing about it, but hey, how many times do we get to have a new start in life???
Congrats on your approval.

Welcome Therese,
We are quite a mix of folks here. Some are quite far out from their surgery dates and others are new to the lifestyle and others (like you) are awaiting surgery. We have so much to learn from each other.
Briefly, about me, I had my surgery May 2005. I started with a bmi of 57 and now it is 34! I'm still hoping to get under the bmi of 30 mark...but, the weight loss is excruciating slow at this point. I do, however, feel fantastic. I've lost 151 lbs. I walked 5 miles today...believe me, that would never have been possible.
Big hugs to you!
